You are assuming key players on offense stay healthy. That is something I am not assuming.

We need more than 2 punts a game.
More like 6 .

and the 4th qtr is when our defense cant stop other teams, so they need some stops in the 4th ?

Two punts, two turnovers, three field goal attempts. The rest touchdowns.

is this for the upcoming season or per game? and yes this is a completely valid distinction considering the state of the defense..

Been reading that for years. He still gets open. First down.

In terms of highest percentage of catches for 1st down, Witten was ranked #20 among TEs with at least 40 receptions last year. So not sure about that part in bold.

And you're gonna need to force more than 2 punts a game to guarantee a win. Even if the Cowboys' offense is able to control the clock and keep opposing teams to 8 drives per game, that still leaves a possible 42 points per game since the other 6 drives could end in points. Need to minimize the scoring opportunities of other teams. Two punts a game doesn't come close to doing that.

Honestly, with the run game and my confidence that our offensive passer rating will be pretty ridiculous with Tony/Dez in form, if we can force three punts and win the turnover battle, minimum, we're going to be a very tough team to beat.

You mean the hot garbage we had at QB last year lowered his percentage? Damn.

Must have been the same hot garbage QB play he had in 2012, when he ranked #23...maybe it's because he had hot garbage at RB that year...

Over the last 5 years, Witten has ranked in the top 10 once for highest percentage of receptions for 1st down (he just missed the top 10 in 2013), and only once has he had over 60% of his catches result in 1st down over that same time span. Actually, he had 60.3% one of those years lol...so I'll change it to 61% or more.

Good to read some optimistic posts! Great way to start a Saturday!

  • Dez I believe is still a top 5-7 WR but not a top 3 anymore. Deandre Hopkins, ODB, Julio Jones, AJ green, Demarius Thomas, Antonio Brown ect. Plus some up an coming young wideouts like Amari Cooper and Stefan Diggs. Oh and I wouldn't double Dez anymore I'd stick my best CB on him (like Norman or Jenkins )and call it the day.
  • Witten has lost many steps, we need to replace him ASAP. But I'd take any of these guys to replace him: Greg Olson, Gronk, Marty B, Jordan Reed, Ertz, Travis Kelce, and Delaney Walker - I'm ok Owen Daniels too
Overall the offense will be potent! And the defense should be impotent

Yeah, Gronk should be our target next off season. :lmao:

And did you say Martellus Bennett to replace Witten?

Meant to add to my reply earlier @Howboutdemcowbos31 that I think forcing 2-3 punts a game may win us 2/3s to 3/4s of our games.

I think he had a lot of lower body injuries he was playing through last year.

I know of an ankle for sure.

My only problem with Witten is that he really doesn't stretch the middle of the field. Nobody on our team really does.

I really wish we'd consider a Anquan Boldin to see if he has anything left and could play the slot and possibly give us something down field over the middle.

It's not about many first downs he gets compared to the rest of the league it's about how many first downs he gets relative to the number of catches he makes. That's what you are missing.

2014: 48 of 64 catches
2015: 36 of 77 catches

2014 higher percentage with good QB
2015 lower percentage with hot garbage at QB

Definitely one of the dumbest post ever. Two punts is all we need to win? What a joke. What about the other 9 or 10 possessions? Dallas doesn't force turnovers so the other team is going to score on 85% of their possessions and we are still going to win? This isn't arena football where one stop can be all you need. Assuming Dallas can force two turnovers is extremely optimistic and this doesn't even take into account the turnovers Dallas commits. I'd say they need to force three punts/turnovers per half at minimum to win. Any less and he other team is scoring in the high 20s or low 30s easily.

What if those 2 punts results in an eventual TD.
A chance at a TD on the return itself.
2 time consuming drives that results in TD's, therefore running down the clock giving less time to get 2 scores or more needed to win or tie.

Talking about dumbest posts ever...needing 3 punts / turnovers per half....well ok, we will be 19-0...I'll take that....
you are selling this team way short if they need that many per half.
If we use ball control as in 2014, we will be the team scoring in the high 20's and low 30's...and that usually equates to wins for us.

Yeah, all of that is going to happen every week! You really think stopping your opponent from scoring three times per half is unreasonable? Do you even watch football?

No I do not watch it, I only post on here like I watch it.
I have not watched a game in my life. I recall back in 1966 as to not watching a game and said to myself...one of these days, I will post on something not yet invented yet called the CowboysZone about football, that I never watched.

What kind of a stupid question is that? I asked a question, but apparently you are the one that don't watch football since this was your reply.
You didn't even read what I posted most likely...you can read can't you?
