If we can't run the ball on Sunday

They need some design runs for pollard. get him the ball and rush to the outside. As I type this i'm hearing zeke has 2 broken tackles this year. His rein as a dominant inside runner is over, he's good but not great.

I like to see a wheel route with Pollard.

Lets not panic about this. Surely we all remember the Bronco game earlier in 2017. The Broncos completely shut down Zeke and the running game. It was every bit as ugly as this past Sunday. But the following week the Cowboys had a more respectable (though not great) 99 rushing yards, then 189 rushing yards the next week, then 163 the next week, then 265 the next week …. the running game was never dominated again that season

The point is, one game did not define the running game for the remainder of the season then, and it is unlikely to now.

Hoping the OL and WRs redeem themselves this week. Both of those things will make running the ball that much easier.

The Saints run D won on scheme, not talent. No reason to think the Packers can't/won't mimic that.
Not even close to true. The Saints are absolutely stacked on the DL w/ Brown, Rankins, Jordan, and Davenport. They're in the conversation as one of the best DLines in the league. They went out and got plugger Malcolm Brown to do just what they did to us.

The Packers also have a quality DLine w/ one of the best young NT's in the game in Kenny Clark sided by quality in Dean Lowry and some good looking youngsters.

Why do you guys still by this crapp that quality at the DT position doesn't matter? It's been proven incorrect over and over, and yet y'all still believe it.

Please show me where I said the Saints don't have talent, or that it doesn't matter.

Honestly, are you 12 years old?

I just worry about the coaches.

I was trusting in Moore and it was like someone else took over last week and forced Dallas to go back into it's old Linehan shell.

It's obvious Dallas should run the ball this week but with the criticism they are receiving for being conservative last week it wouldn't surprise me if they got pass happy.

Our coaches have always been a reactionary bunch when it comes to their criticisms.

just hope I don't here any whispers that end up becoming truth to it that Garrett may have intervened and decided to input a more conservative approach and insist
on chiming back the more wide open fancy Kellen concepts.

without the volcanic dome home noise that was in da Big Easy, as this is a home game we are hosting vs GB, there's no nowhere near the need to worry as much
about chopping back and going conservative.

but in according to the Eagles game, Kenny Clarke did not matter as they rolled and ran all over packers run defense.

but I agree with the Saints acquiring top run stuffers that continue their stout run defense
and it's not near as misleading as our run defense.

then there is a big problem here.

If anyone watched that Eagles-Packers game, it was eye opening at how large the holes were Philly was opening up against the Packers front. Aikman was almost laughing at times at how big the holes were.

The one thing that the Packers can do is rush the passer. So with Smith out, this is a game where we need, and should be able, to run the ball very well.

If we can't run we're LOSING......

No Smith hurts. But Fleming did well in the past filling in for him. He will have all week to prepare for this game.

Definitely need to establish a strong running game right away though.
We’ll be better all around. Book it!

I guess not alone, but scheme was the bigger problem, I think.

Stuff like that isn't talent-dependent. The first was a perfect run blitz, the second, every gap is filled, with an extra defender in the cutback lanes. Even if you execute blocks, there's nowhere to go.

These are the same plays that a certain "fan" said Zeke should have broke, lol.

They haven't allowed a 100 yard rusher since 2017 so I think that talent has a lot to do with it. And not every team has the defensive players to do what they did against the Cowboys rush game.

Your forgetting one thing. Packers were worried more about the eagles passing game than their running game. Against us it will be the opposite. The book is out on our team now, load up and stop the run and make Dak beat you with the pass. If they succeed in doing that we will be in trouble but if they load up against the run and we can still run we will win. This is what opposing D's have been doing to us for the last 2+ years and they will keep doing it until we prove we can consistantly beat them with the passing game

Jerry will have had Garrett and Moore in his office all week asking them why we ran so much

As a result we are going to come out throwing and throw a bunch

If we can't run the ball at home, and for two weeks in a row? Our season is in jeopardy.

I think we can run on the Packers but we also need to pass well, the problem is we cant run last years offense and hope to beat Rodgers.
If we want to keep Rogers off the field then we run the ball to the tune of 200 yards.

Nervous ?

Don't be, we got wonder-boy genius at OC .

If we can't run , we adjust . Thats what coaching is about .

If this was on Moore, which I am very skeptical of, but if that is the case, you would think that an experienced HC of 9+ seasons, a former NFL OC, would have enough experience to step in and take control in that situation. You would hope to see Garrett chime in and say, "hey, this isn't working, lets try running XYZ." I mean, that's only reasonable. Any way I look at this, this still falls on Garrett's shoulders IMO.

Great point. This is why I think the game plan was JG's than Moore's. We were using play action 40% of the time in games 1-3 but drop it to 20% against the Saints. That's a huge difference. Incidentally, 20% was about how much we used play action during JG/Linehan days.
