I don't think so. I believe I read somewhere it would be the next round of the playoffs after the wildcard game.

No idea, but we wouldn't want to replace the sizzling hot Cassel, who clearly would be playing amazing football in that scenario. It would be an injustice to replace such legendary play.

But seriously, apparently Romo was spotted throwing 40 yard passes before the Skins game...

I read it's he is on 6-8 week timeframe again starting from when he was hurt.

Sounds to me like the best case would be NFC Championship game and the most likely case would be Superbowl.

Assuming that the Cowboys somehow make it that far it will mean that Cassell has been playing pretty darn well. I have my doubts they'd yank him in the Superbowl for Romo considering how rusty Romo looked coming back from the 1st broken clavicle.

Eatman thinks he will. Said on the Break he was throwing 30 yard passes and not wearing a sling this past weekend.

Heard 5-6 weeks to heal. Check Dr. Chao's response to time frame. Could be back WC round which is 40 days plus removed from injury.

I hadn't heard that Romo's injury wasn't that bad this time around -- typically the bone gets weaker and needs more time to heal on re-breaks.

This is good news.

@Carharris2 , @cowboys1981 Do you have links to sources on Romo throwing before the Commanders game and the Dr. Chao's analysis on Romo's injury? I'd love to see those.

The latest I saw said 3 to 4 weeks minimum, meaning a very, very slight possibility he could be back for Buffalo and slightly more likely for the 'Skins. The most likely scenario would be if we were to make the playoffs, he could be back for the wildcard game.

I personally doubt he comes back this season if we are eliminated. I would rather see Kellen Moore for a couple of games.

In that scenario we most likely get the Hawks again at home. We should have beaten them the first time but our HC is scared.

When you look back while our defense hasn't been a TO machine, they have played pretty freaking good.

If we make the playoffs, it will mean most likely Cassel would have won us 5 games in a row. Would you really want to make that switch to a guy who has played a total of 14 quarters this season? Just roll with what got you there. In a win or go home scenario, you don't have have time to wear off the rust.

I think the Bulls did this in 99. Went with Rob Johnson instead of the hot hand in Flutie and they looked flat and lost. But then it worked the other way in the early 90s. I guess it would be a judgement call.

If it's possible for him to play with this injury I think he will go even if it isn't fully healed.

Heck if week 17 is a win and in game he may come back then.

You got all offseason to baby this thing and if it's just a healing issue and not a pain issue I expect him to risk reinjuring it.

The intensity of the playoffs is a wee bit different. I'd trust a rusty Romo more than a fresh Cassel.
Cassel is a game manager. You need a little bit more than a game manager in the playoffs.

I read something on dallascowboys.com (I believe) saying he could be available for the Buffalo game if we are still in contention.

I think they'll hold him out till the playoffs. I think they're going to go with Cassel until we're officially out in which case we will see Moore some.

If they continue to win enough to get in they'll ride Cassel till the playoffs then put Romo in for the playoffs.

Unless the rest of the NFC east loses this weekend though we're going to be in a pretty big hole in terms of chances after Greenbay cause I don't expect that we will beat them.

The facial expression on the woman next to him is priceless. Those two people are avatar representations of about 70% of the users here :)

... 35% the guy standing up with the sign

... 35% the woman looking at him like "What!?!?"

... oh and the other 30% that are not pictured are in grinch outfits :D
