I hadn't heard that Romo's injury wasn't that bad this time around -- typically the bone gets weaker and needs more time to heal on re-breaks.

This is good news.

@Carharris2 , @cowboys1981 Do you have links to sources on Romo throwing before the Commanders game and the Dr. Chao's analysis on Romo's injury? I'd love to see those.

Nick Eatman mentioned it on The Break. Monday. You can download the podcast.

Everyone keeps mentioning the Carolina game as a barometer for bringing tony back or not.
For the rest of his career, playing Thursday games is going to be an issue for tony.

I say a better measuring stick was the Miami game. He was a bit rusty for sure but still made critical plays when we needed them against a solid defense.
In this scenario, you absolutely play tony if he is cleared by the Drs.
And no dr jones doesn't count.

And if all this falls in place, please be on the lookout for those flying pigs.....

If we make the playoffs, it will mean most likely Cassel would have won us 5 games in a row. Would you really want to make that switch to a guy who has played a total of 14 quarters this season? Just roll with what got you there. In a win or go home scenario, you don't have have time to wear off the rust.

I think the Bulls did this in 99. Went with Rob Johnson instead of the hot hand in Flutie and they looked flat and lost. But then it worked the other way in the early 90s. I guess it would be a judgement call.

Yes.

This is not something that you need to worry about as it will not happen.

This thread is very hypothetical.

I fully expect us to destroy draft position and lose when we have a legit way in the playoffs in a win and in scenario.

I dont know how much quality football he has left but he did not play particularly well this season when he did play. He was good the last drive of the Giants game and the last half of Miami. Other than that not so much.

True . It was a rough yr all along for tony.
I'd still rather live and die with him vs Matt cassel. Not a good situation to be in but this thread is hypothetical anyway

We're talking about Matt Cassel here.

The facial expression on the woman next to him is priceless. Those two people are avatar representations of about 70% of the users here :)

... 35% the guy standing up with the sign

... 35% the woman looking at him like "What!?!?"

... oh and the other 30% that are not pictured are in grinch outfits :D
I'm going to have to ask you not to incite the masses. This is your final warning.

Until the next time I have to tell you. In which case, THAT one will be your final warning.

Or maybe the one after that... It's hard to keep track of all these final warnings.

:)

Playoffs. Playoffs. You're talking playoffs. I just hope we win a few games. The Jim Mora rant never gets old (of course I adlib some of it). Seriously, I hope he is. I think it will be a big boost to the team confidence and think we might be able to make a run.

No idea, but we wouldn't want to replace the sizzling hot Cassel, who clearly would be playing amazing football in that scenario. It would be an injustice to replace such legendary play.

But seriously, apparently Romo was spotted throwing 40 yard passes before the Skins game...

we *could* make the playoffs just by winning 2 more games, so he may not be that hot.

If it's possible for him to play with this injury I think he will go even if it isn't fully healed.

Heck if week 17 is a win and in game he may come back then.

You got all offseason to baby this thing and if it's just a healing issue and not a pain issue I expect him to risk reinjuring it.

He was ducking when pressure was coming at him, he should not be anywhere near the field if we make the playoffs. He needs to heal this thing the rest of the year, come back 100% and give it a go next season.

Broaddus was just arguing with a fan on twitter about this yesterday. The fan kept telling him 4 weeks and Broaddus repeatedly told him he had talked to the medical staff/personnel and they told him 6-8 weeks. Choose whether you believe him or not, but thats what he said.

Edit: found the conversation

As much as I love Romo, I would have to agree with that. The only way you put him back in is if Cassel struggles in the first half of a playoff game

In 1991, Aikman was out with a sprained knee, I believe that was the injury.
Buerlein had played like 5 games. Jimmy thought he should deserve the playoff start at Detroit. Even though Aikman was healthy and ready to go.

Buerlein struggled. Aikman came in in the 2nd half. Played well IIRC. Many thought of Aikman would have started, they would have won. I remember thinking, why not start Aikman.
But Cowobys were in too big of a hole to come back. Even if he would have put him in the 2nd quarter, it may have made a difference.

It is just a reference to a point in time and completely different teams. But still something to consider.
