If we fall short of making the playoffs

I have a hard time hating on Weeden; even though the dude can't play. People forget Weeden was signed two years ago basically as a camp arm. The Cowboys were planning on Kyle Orton being the backup in 2014; before he "retired" (only to resurface in Buffalo before retiring again).

If Orton didn't quit- because of reputed clashes with the coaches and Romo - Weed wouldn't have made the team last year. Instead he became the backup by default.

If I was going to "hate" a QB, it would be Orton.

Weeden and Cassel have tried as hard as they can. Both are probably near the end of their NFL careers, so there's not much anyone can expect.

Im no Weeden fan, but if it came down to that I would put more blame on the front office.

This. It's not his fault he is who he is. He's not an unlikable guy. He didn't do anything wrong. He's just inadequate at winning games his whole career and even after seeing him against Arizona last year, this FO really thought he was the best guy for the job coming into this season. For which many have no idea. He has nothing.

I have plenty of hate to go around.

Hate Weeden. Brandon Carr. Roger Staubach. Just to name a few.

Roger Staubach retired when I was a one year old baby, yet I still have nothing but 110 percent respect for the man.

.....by say, one game, would Brandon Weeden go down as one of your most disliked Cowboys of all time? If not, who would you rank ahead of him?

Discuss.....

Ryan Leaf and Quincy Carter would rank higher on my list.

We are done if we don't beat Seattle. Really doubt we will with Cassell at the helm. Looking at 7 or 8 wins which is what I said when TR went down. Wasted season because A) they won't max protect and B) he won't learn to throw the ball away and not take unnecessary hits

Good news: will draft higher next year and can get a young QB....maybe the kid out of Michigan State (Connor Cook)

I was just thinking that we needed another Weeden hate thread. Thank you.

I agree with not putting the blame on Weeden. As I said before, Weeden is Weeden and he played like he normally plays. The blame HAS to go to the FO for the mumbo jumbo that he has improved greatly and sticking their head in the sand strategy instead of upgrading the position. Romo is getting old and is injury prone, stupid to not have dealt with this in the off season.

That would be great. Unfortunately I can't see this FO drafting a QB. They are delusional in thinking they will just figure something out when Romo retires.

Blame the FO and the coach. From my couch I could tell you Brandon Weeden wasn't the answer. He probably cost the team a first round bye last year and he STILL made it to this one with no competition.

Nope, I don't hate Weeden. I have no doubt he gave an honest, 100-percent effort. He didn't stink up the place by being a lazy ****. He did so simply because he's not talented enough. I despise Jay Ratliff way more because he willfully defrauded the team.

Exactly............didn't Garrett hand pick this guy?

Oh that's right, only when players actually turn out good do we credit Garrett and when they turn out to be scrubs, they were forced on him. Almost forget the narrative around here, my apologies.

Not trying to defend Weeden but not many backup QBs are going to be the answer especially with this team that became even more dependent on their QB with the departure of their running game. The Cowboys haven't won a game without Romo since 2010 and that was with Stephen McGee playing against Philly's backups in week 17. Their current 4 game losing streak shows how much this team depends on a franchise QB. Last week Cassel looked worse than Weeden and he had a running game. It would be difficult for any backup QB to win a game with a team that doesn't have a consistent running game or a top WR and an average defense.

The Cowboys would have had a tough time beating AZ with Romo the Cards were 7-1 and playing some of the best football in the league. The Cowboys were coming off an upset loss to a bad Washington team and that loss took some of the steam out of them. One of the reasons for the loss to Washington was not being able to handle their blitz. Romo was sacked 5 times in that game resulting in another back injury.

No team in the league blitzed more than AZ and although Weeden played poorly I'm not so sure Romo would have had a good day himself against that defense that would have been pinning their ears back coming after him. As for a first round bye the Cowboys could have secured that had they not been blown out by Philly on Thanksgiving.

How quickly Dustin Vaughan is forgotten.
