.....by say, one game, would Brandon Weeden go down as one of your most disliked Cowboys of all time? If not, who would you rank ahead of him?

Discuss.....

don't dislike him... he just sucks...

if we miss the playoffs... I'm not blaming him... I'm blaming management.

Jason garret should get the majority of blame :
1) failure to develop or pick the right back up QB...Weeden , etc etc
2) failure to develop or pick back up WRs so far ... Escobar , Williams etc

Of course jerry also meddles in the selection process.

Can't blame Garrett for Weeden not developing he was already a bust when he arrived in Dallas and who exactly would've been the right back up QB?

I think I'd wait to see if this team ever wins another game without Romo before I'd blame Weeden. He helped us finish off/put away the Eagles. Personally, I feel the poor defensive effort was equally as responsible for our losses vs. Atlanta and N.O. Then he and our team were revealed for what they are vs. N.E.

Cassel is now 0-1 with 3 interceptions that easily could have been 5-6, plus a pick 6 in the only game by a backup QB with a consistent running game. I expect another close game for 2-3 quarters vs. Seattle, but ultimately, the defense won't contain Russell Wilson, and Cassel will turn the ball over. So...no...we aren't missing the playoffs because of Weeden. We will miss the playoffs because we lost our franchise QB and our franchise WR for huge chunks of the season, we lost our best CB for the season and our 3rd down back almost from the start, and we've dealt with other injuries at WR, OL, TE, DL, and LB from game to game while trying to play with two safeties who'd be fortunate to play special teams on most teams...not to mention subpar special teams.

This year has had disaster written all over it since Scandrick went down in camp...even Romo can't fix what this season has become.

He picked Weeden as backup . He picked the other bust they let go from west Texas , he picked kit a as a short time solution .. Jason cannot pick a winning QB so far .

Jerry signs off on every personnel move the Cowboys make so it's not like Garrett brought in these OBs and said like it or not we're going with them. What backup QB that was available the past couple of years could the Cowboys have signed that could have won games with a team that has an inconsistent running game, is missing it's #1 receiver and had zero pass rush the first 4 games of this season? Even with Romo putting up 350 + and 3 TD's vs the Giants on opening day and having Dez for most of the game it took a huge clock management gaff by the Giants and a last ditch drive to pull that game out. If you go back 2 years ago there were many here who were on board with signing Weeden. They won't admit it now because they're currently living in the moment but they liked the move. The ones who were on board with signing Weeden dismissed his 2 seasons in Cleveland pointing out that every QB the Browns have had since Bernie Kosar was released has failed in Cleveland. I wasn't on board with signing Weeden but I could see the logic behind the signing. The Cowboys saw a QB who was drafted with a first round pick who only had 2 years of NFL experience.

Most veteran QBs who are released can't be rehabilitated they are what they are but the Cowboys felt there was a chance Weeden could be developed due to his lack of experience. It didn't work out but it doesn't work out with a lot of backups who are forced into action especially those who are dealt a short deck due to injuries to key players. As for Dustin Vaughn many on the board liked him and saw potential go back and read the posts from the summer of 2014. Some wanted to dump Weeden and go with Vaughn as the backup even though he was an undrafted developmental project. Can't fault the Cowboys or Garrett for taking a chance on him the team took the same chance on Romo 11 years earlier and hit the jackpot. There's no harder position to evaluate than QB so if a team feels a QB has potential regardless how long the odds are there's no harm in taking a chance.

Where I criticize the team is not taking a chance in the 2nd or 3rd round on a solid prospect to increase their odds of getting a hit. You have a much better chance of hitting on a solid backup in the 2nd or 3rd round who might someday elevate themselves into a solid starter which is something the Cowboys need to start thinking about. With Romo aging and coming off back to back seasons with injuries the Cowboys need to start improving their odds of finding a solid young prospect to develop. If they keep fooling around with the Brandon Weeden's and Matt Cassel's of the NFL world and continue rolling the dice on undrafted developmental projects that are facing power ball odds of having success they'll be struggling to win 6-7 games each season.
