I'm leaning towards Billings or Rankin as the two defensive players that would potentially improve our defense the most. So i would advocate a trade down no lower than 7th, snatching one of them up Billings 1st option, Rankin 2nd.

It has to be Noah Spence right?

I just don't feel Bosa is worth the pick and I can't imagine Myles JAck being so good that he validates a top 5 pick.

How many 4-3 NFL LB's right now would validate a top 5 pick?

I just can't imagine he is.

So if Dallas decides they want a defender with their first pick I hope they go with Spence or they get out of the pick and add some quantity to our draft and get back up into the first round for Wentz.

I don't know anything about Spence, but I just watched his plays from the Kentucky game. I like what I saw from him, though I really didn't like what I saw from the Kentucky tackles. I'm sure they helped him with their poor play. I also watched an interview with him and he seems well spoken and humble. I do like that also.

Tempting, but a top 5 pick should have zero red flags and tape to match imo.

Yeah.. I think he's a clear talent but I just worry about him getting millions and throwing it all away.

You already got a guy you have to baby sit in Gregory and I think Spence would be another until he's established himself as not wanting to pop mollys.

Yeah, Spence is one of the only playmakers there. If his interviews check out, I'm good with him at 4.

We took Ware at 14. Small school athletic wonder, never played LB, who was ranked mid second round in February. Where these guys are ranked this time of year means next to nothing.

Sometimes you have to take a chance if you want to get an allstar

I agree but this draft is weak at the top so if you want a legit talent you may need to acquire the red flag guy.

If Spence convinces teams that the drug use is over and done with than I think you have to take him if you're wanting a defender.

They took one last year too. (and signed Greg Hardy) At what point do you say the risk is too great? Two of them? Three? Four? :)

It's times like this you want a Ware type player as a mentor on your team.

Broncos just won a Superbowl with Aqib Talib. Nobody cares.

So forget about the bad character guys because the QB will get most of the credit when you win the Superbowl anyways.

I don't really have too many issues with taking a kid with red flags, but a top five pick is something entirely different. In order for me to consider Spence at 4, he's going to have to put up some unbelievable numbers at the combine.

If we don't go QB at 4 and Spence is the best talent left on the board, I'll be all about shopping the pick and picking up an extra 2nd or 3rd (or both) and keep my fingers crossed that he's still available.

Well you could re-sign Hardy to a cheap deal. Draft Ramsey and move him to FS and move Byron to CB full-time. Then get Scandrick back and sign a decent zone corner in FA and sign Weddle.

Now your DB's look like Jones-Scandrick-FA Corner-Mitchell-Weddle-Ramsey. That's a clear upgrade IMO.

Even still, I think if we pass up on Lynch as #4 unless he has some health or attitude concerns...we really deserve to fail.

It's different though. There's a huge difference between the 4th pick overall and a pick at the end of the 2nd. In Hardy's case, there was a lot of safety net written into his contract in case he faltered. In both cases, it was a low risk/ high reward situation.

I am all about drafting Spence, but not @ 4 with his past.

Anything can happen but it seems to me that it would be a shock for him to go at 4.

Just not seeing it.

Draft position means nothing once you're already on the team. (drafted) The question is, how much (total) risk is there with this player and any players already on your team and finally. Is the player worth that level of risk?

I'm not sure if I'm following. Are you asking how many red flag guys can you add to the roster before they start affecting the locker room? I'm not sure if there's an answer for that, it's going to differ from team to team.

Considering he has already received comparisons to Khalil Mack, I'd say yes, if defense was the total focus. I'd still prefer the QB, however... .

Marrinelli loves Spence, so you truly never know with Dallas especially if he does well at the combine.

Pass rush is at a premium, so if everything checks out Spence will move up the board.

He is the best pure edge rusher in the entire draft and would definitely make an impact for this defense.
