Only way I take Spence is if we find a way to get creative with Gregory. I don't see that happening. We got lucky landing Gregory last year and he only projects as a WDE, which is what Hardy and Spence would play. If we somehow find a way to play all 3 (Spence, Gregory, Lawrence) like Denver did when Miller played SLB when they were still in the 4-3, then I'd say okay. But I don't see us being that creative. We play a traditional 4-man rush. We just need all 4 guys to be talented. Gregory needs to live up to his potential and add a few pounds, and we need to replace Hayden with a talented do-it-all big man. Luckily there are quite a few guys who fit that mold this year. Problem is, they won't be there when we pick again at 34. It might be a reach taking Robinson/Billings/Rankins at 4 but it wouldn't at 10-15.

Think he is gonna end up going to the chargers at 3. The guy impressed everybody apparently on changing his life around and that was his only knock. Guy is going to climb

But according to multiple reports...he didn't interview well @ the Sr Bowl. That's gonna knock him.

Marrinelli loves Spence, so you truly never know with Dallas especially if he does well at the combine.

Pass rush is at a premium, so if everything checks out Spence will move up the board.

He is the best pure edge rusher in the entire draft and would definitely make an impact for this defense.

All of this is true. Good idea thread creators; I never thought about Spence at 4 but I am suddenly a huge fan of the idea

I've seen Spence rush at a high level from both sides.

We don't have a big financial commitment to Gregory either so adding another pass rusher to a defense that lacks pass rushers would be a good idea imo.

I'm not saying I don't want Spence. I'm just saying we should give Gregory a chance and we should upgrade the 1-tech position significantly.

Gregory will get a chance. I'm just saying the more than merrier.

Broncos drafted Shane Ray last year even though they had Ware and Miller.

You want as many quality pass rush guys as possible.

Yeah but Ware is a stop gap they would have had to replace in the near future regardless. Ours are young.

True but still I think the more you have the better.

I'm not sold on D. Lawrence as some big difference maker and Gregory is so undersized that i'm just not completely sold on him either.

Regardless I don't think Dallas has shown that we have the options on our team that all us to pass on pass rushers.

I agree with the more the merrier. I'm in the resign Hardy camp though. And i like Irving what we need is a force in the middle that is somewhat immovable more than we need more edge rushers though IMO.

We do need guys in the middle.

I'm sick about the contract we gave to Crawford.

I disagree. Players like Ware are needed on every team. There is always a place for a veteran that can add depth and leadership. All teams have them. If Denver cuts Ware....that was the role he played for them.

Ware wouldn't be a cornerstone piece. I think most of us aren't understanding that. Most of us are thinking that any FA we sign would have to be here for 5 to 6 years.

No.

We sign guys...every team signs guys to provide depth. Ware would be a great addition.

I wonder if Denver is going to release Ware?

I'd love to have him back as a part time guy.

Cue the "at the right price" crowd.

Look, you know it and I know it, he is not going to play for the vet minimum.

Why some people keep up this romantic fantasy of him coming back mystifies me.

That's true and some team will probably give him a crazy amount even if Denver does cut him.

I could see New England paying up.

If we aren't sold on a QB at #4 I prefer to trade down rather than take 10-15 talent that high. There is a similar group of players in the top 15 this year, not a drop off. I think we could get someone in the same grade range at 8-12 as we could get at #4. Jack, Buckner, Elliot, Treadwell, Spence, A. Robinson.

I'd like for the QB's to grade out high and us take one at #4. But if not I'd be fine moving down and acquiring another high pick and nabbing one of the guys mentioned.

You have to give your guys a chance eventually. D. Lawrence has proven himself and remains to be the forgotten man. He was our highest drafted DE in years in 2014 and people forgot all about him after we signed Hardy and drafted Gregory. He ended up being our best and most consistent pass rusher. Now Gregory is becoming the forgotten man. I'm all for having a surplus of DEs. I just don't think you should have guys stepping on each other's toes. Lawrence was given a chance and proved he could be a long-term solution at SDE. Gregory should be given the chance at WDE. I'm all for bringing in a Ware-type: a veteran who can play both sides and can be a bridge between your young guys (Ware-Ray in Denver). That's why I'd be happy with Hardy (or someone similar) on another 1-year deal. I just don't want a long-term commitment to a guy like Hardy when Gregory deserves a chance. Nothing wrong with spending lots of resources on DE. You just don't want 3 high draft picks battling for the same spot (unless you know hot to utilize them all, which Marinelli has not shown he can).

I like the no state income tax in Texas excuse as to why a player would take less to come here. :(
