A lot depends on how good those picks end up being of course.

I would say a little worse this season but possibly better in the future. Especially if that LT ends up being elite.

Dak was just fine without Pickens. He actually had his best season in 2023 with no Pickens. Stacking 2 top paid WRs works nowhere bc you can't build the roster depth required to compete with so much cap space going to WR. If we trade Pickens for a Waddle like package, then we could use one those picks on a WR to replace him on a cheap rookie deal.

Just roll with Pickens IMO. Offense was fun to watch. Yeah, it wasn't always perfect, but that's the way it goes in the NFL. You're going to have your bad games......that's where you want even a competent defense.

Do you look things up or just have hot opinions? AJ and Devonte combined for a 25M cap hit in 2025 when they won the super bowl. If you want to look a contract value, AJ and Devonte' had the 11th and 17th ranked contract values at WR. Thats not even close to what Dallas is looking at if they resign Pickens to a longer deal. Dallas already has the 3rd highest paid WR and Pickens isn't looking for less. So, try your math again.

Thank you for bringing this up, life goes on without Pickens being here. Some on here act like it's Pickens or nothing!!! He can be replaced for a younger talent who we hope will develop into something decent or better!

As far as trade compensation, I think we wait and see what a possible AJ Brown trade gets in terms of compensation. But if he is traded, will there be anymore teams out there willing to give up a first for him????

If all else fails, what about a 2 this year, and a 2 that can turn into a 1st round pick in 2027????????

Because Waddle is signed cheaply for the next two seasons. Pickens requires a serious financial commitment but no one seems to want to account for that major difference. All they see is that Pickens is better than Waddle so Dallas ought to be able to get more.

We have quite a few needs to address on defense. The most glaring to me is LB and I still feel like we need another edge. As much as some folks disagree with me I think both of our tackle positions could be upgraded. I think you could do so by moving Guyton to RT and dumping Steele but they will not do that. If you are trying to get this done in Daks window which is 2 to 3 years max then you dont dump a Pickens

Pickens was better than Lamb last year and him being here opens things up for Williams and Lamb so I wouldn't want to do that but hes going to cost a pretty penny to keep and he may turn into a headache down the road here if he doesn't get his way.

Getting a 1st and 3rd isnt a bad deal but Id certainly want it at the top of the draft. A place like Cleveland or the Jets would be ideal then you have another high pick when a Styles,Bain and Top WR come in play.

The Waddle deal is not an apples to apples comparison unless Pickens agrees to a two year deal for a grand total of 25 million with zero signing bonus.
