Is Garrett on the hot seat? Now I am not saying he will be in jeopardy of being fired immediately if we lose, I am just asking if a loss puts him on the hot seat? Meaning, will Jerry maybe start to think about some what if scenarios and what direction to go in if this thing heads south and we miss the playoffs.

Missing the playoffs when the NFC East is historically bad would be about as huge a coaching blunder as it would get. If you cant win the East this year, of all years, then yikes!!!

I say yes, if we lose to Philly and drop out of first, I think Garrett is officially on the hot seat then. If we then lose at Detroit the following week................well, lets just say that scenario would not play out well for Garrett.

Or we could lose and Jerry says "its a moral victory" and we get more of the same.........status quo.

Honestly, I have no idea what Jerry will do if the Cowboys miss the playoffs this year. But if they do miss for the fourth consecutive year, it compels the question: What are the reasons for retaining Garrett? What has he shown you to suggest he's worth keeping around?

Jerry wants Garrett to succeed. He's his handpicked long-term head coach, so Garrett would have to do something far greater than fall to 3-4 to get on the hot seat. I don't know if not making the playoffs will even be enough (because an excuse is built in with the defensive switch and injuries to the defensive line).

no way. we have no DL to speak of. and installing a new defense. this philly offense will give us fits, specially with our depth.

I honestly don't think that he'll see the hot seat this year, no matter how bad things get. He's Jerry's guy, through and through. Also, the argument could be made that this year is all on the defense, he didn't hire the defensive staff. Garrett's offense is amongst the best in the league (I recognize that he isn't calling the plays, but I guarantee you that he has a say in what's happening on offense).
