There has been a lot of speculation about BP hlding JuJo back. This year will be neat to watch. I hope we see the same guy that ran against Seattle and the Giants.

which is ridiculous

holding someone back would mean you're happy with the results, BP was not happy w/ Julius

edit: whoever altered my avi, thanks, looks good

A trade of JJ would have made more sense last year with Maroney, Addai, DeAngelo Williams, Lendale White available late in the first early second.

As stated previously, this is a weak running back class.

And no one's really available to fill the role JJ does. Michael Bush might be available in the second, third rounds but he's more a power back than a speed back and MB serves as the power back in the Cowboys offense.

And Tyson Thompson is still recovering from a broken ankle. I don't think you want to put all your eggs in that basket.

Even if we don't trade Julius, he's going into his 4th year and its obvious he isn't a long term answer there so finding a replacement is definitely a need. I would be very happy if we got Marshawn Lynch at 22. I think he's a legit Top 15 pick, and that's good value. One thing that our offense has lacked is a pass receiving HR threat out of the backfield. Julius has no coordination catching the ball, often tripping over his own feet running routes. Marion, while polished coming out of college, doesn't have homerun ability in the open field and is best reserved as our between the tackles runner.

why not just draft Lorenzo Booker then?

I dont think its fair to say we dont have RB who can catch out of the backfield.

There are 2 huge problems that will hopefully be fixed this year with our RBs.

#1 Our offensive line could NOT run block. It was atrocious, especially toward the end of the season.

#2 Our offense did not design or run plays involving our RBs catching balls out of the backfield. Not sure where the stats are online, I am sure Adam could investigate and make it public how little we attempted passes to our RBs compared to the rest of the league.

Antonio Pittman from OSU I think it is good prospect as well as Kenny Irons from Auburn

Parcells has always had backs who have put up great receiving numbers every where he has been. I don't think its scheme. Ever seen Julius run a route and adjust to a thrown ball? Looks like someone spilled marbles all over the field. He's had this rep since college..

Negatives: Not really a self-motivated player and does not take well to hard coaching … Is just a little too lazy digesting the playbook … Has adequate power, but not enough to take on defenders one-on-one … Not mentally tough, letting minor injuries linger … Just used on screens, as he is a marginal route runner who looks late for the ball … Needs to protect the ball better and show better anticipation for contact … Will sometimes run up the back of the offensive lineman, but has enough pick-and-slide agility to gain yards inside … Prone to go down from the initial tackle, especially when defenders attack his feet … Has good foot quickness and change-of-direction agility, but is not sudden off cuts, gathering himself before accelerating.

Pretty accurate assessment, from many angles.

And far as our atrocious line blocking, it couldn't have been too bad since Marion Barber had 4.8 ypc. Julius' 4.2 ypc was even better than league average. Too bad he can't catch out of the backfield.

I love the analogy but I dont agree.

RBs don't have to be GREAT route runners and adjust to throw balls... all they have to do is run into the flat or find a soft spot in the defense over the middle.

I know he is no Marshal Faulk or LT but who really is.

I didnt even mention the fact that our oline couldnt pass block either forcing us to keep our RBs in as pass blockers 99% of the time.

But its ok if you want to keep ripping JJ for not being a good route runner.

Well hopefully this becomes a non-issue and Jones steps up and starts playing football. He has not been impressive, he has shown spurts but nothing consistent and I think the Cowboys need more than he has shown.

That is a matter of opinion. I think both guys are good RB and would not be surprised to see them have good NFL careers.

I would too. But it is only a daydream.

With Green Bay picking at #16 and the Giants at #20, it seems unlikely that Lynch would fall to #22.

I'm only stating what's common knowledge to everyone except to his most ardent fanboys.
