If we're trying to get better, why keep the same guys?

Osa is a pass rushing DT..... he is also one of the worst run defenders in the NFL at DT. We play in a division with Saquon barkley. The signing makes no sense. We need a run defense. We would be a better team right now if we gave that contract to Jonathan Allen.

It made tons of sense and was a good 1st step.

Yes they have made the playoffs 4 of those 7 years, but is this a mix of players we just can’t afford to lose? • Serious Question: If we are trying to get better as a team, be more competitive in the playoffs, and transform this soft culture into a tough playoff tested team, why are we so committed as an organization to keeping the same guys?

I would like to see some cap space dedicated to some new players who have been on teams that have won lots of playoff games.

I’m not saying it has to be a complete roster turnover, but can we just not continue with the “we like our guys” mantra that has dealt us two wild card wins in 7 years? If we are going to get some valuable cap space, I would like to see some new blood brought in.

Otherwise are we not just doing the same things and expecting different results?

Those decision were for last year and the year before. Once you signed Dak, then lamb you are only gonna be building around them

Your words and blind spot as well. The franchise might have not even survived if not taken by Jerry and making fertile ground for it's initial success. That occurred when money was the driving force, not management of cap. Fact!

What the Cowboys need to do is sit down and do a hard evaluation of each player. No sentiment, no "this coach likes this guy" keepers and no hoping players who've been there for 2-3 years will "blossom" into Pro Bowlers.

Those that don't make the grade need to be traded or released.

Dr Jerry Buss of the Lakers and Donald Carter original owner of the Mavericks both had placed higher bids than Jethro but Bums personal bankruptcy from Savings & Loan scandal presented a more desperate scenario where the lesser offer was more attractive because no waiting period.

The NBA owners would have needed to sell their majority stakes in order to obtain the Cowboys which would have taken time Bum didn’t have.

My understanding is the cap space made was to resign some of our own players including Parsons instead of pursuing any big name FA. And most of the weaknesses or holes they plan on addressing in draft.

Pretty much a similar plan as we usually have. That said there’s going to be several regular starters we probably lose again to cap moves. Normally there’s near a 25% roster turnover.

Everybody I have listened to has said players that are tagged usually always sign at a higher figure. One of them was Bobby Belt. I have heard several other people say the same thing.

Amari was a good trade. They also had a good FA in 2023. But in 2023 they failed to address LB before the deadline. That sealed our chances in the playoffs.

Then it was much more of a gamble and venture to turn a franchise around. Not that way around the issue of finances. Dallas and Oakland went the same route with ownership and GM positions. Fact is both excelled and at the top of the AFC and NFC. With the merger of those two leagues and creation of a Super Bowl, then the Professional Game started to excell. Get the real facts straight.
