Most Championships won in a career. Don't care which of the 4 major sports but that woud be it. Don't mean most championships won in a career in basketball if I were a basketball player. I would want most championships ever won in a career in any of the majors and I'd want to do it with only one team. Don't care about the position although I'd want to start and I wouldn't want to be like the kicker or the DH or some crap. I'd want to be an every day, every down, starting five kinda player.

That is the record I would like to have.

Baseball - I would chose the all time homerun record.
Just an FYI on that... it took Aaron 3,000+ MORE at bats to break Ruth's 714.

Hockey -
no record desired, just score winning goal in game 7 of Stanley Cup Finals.

Basketball - game winning jumper ala Michael Jordan against Jazz?

Football records - I would go for first RB to amass 20,000 rushing yards. 20K

Boxing - Retire undefeated ala Rocky Marciano

Soccer - headbutt another player and loss the world cup... LMAO

MLB - Breaking the all time win records would be absurd. You would have to average 20 wins for 26 years to break Cy Young's record of 511. That is impossible in today's game so, since I am a sucker for overpowering pitching (how nasty was Penny's first inning yesterday night!?), I would have to go for a 6 year strech of dominance to beat that of Sandy Koufax ('61-'66). To do that you would have to average over 22 wins a season, 286 strikeouts, 276 innings pitched(!), and a 2.18 ERA. Over this span Koufax completed more games then not. The reward? Being rememberd forever as the most dominant pitcher in the game of baseball.

NBA - Points per game is definitely the ultimate. Michael Jordan is the only NBA player to ever average over 30 points a game for his career and because of that (and his absurdly clutch play) he is widely regarded as the greatest basketball player to ever live.

NFL - Career touchdowns. There is no greater thrill in football then a touchdown. There is a reason Jerry Rice is considered by many to be the greatest football player and TDs is it.

Hockey - Career points. Nothing can be better in hockey then surpassing both Mr. Hockey and the Great One.

Football is all about Superbowl wins...At my age (No chance of playing now) I would say to be the HC with the most Superbowl victories...

Baseball, well my favorite player was/is Lou Gehrig, Cal Rypkin broke his record, but hey, Lou was so sick they named the disease after him. In baseball it would be the consectutive game streak...You gotta be good...and you gotta be consistant and more than anything...you gotta be an IRON HORSE !

Have you ever read his book, "Throwing Heat?"

I highly recommend it.

Is there a better moment in baseball history than Nolan teaching Robin Ventura to respect his elders? An autographed Nolan photograph with lil' Robin in a headlock, fist cocked and ready, is arguably my most prized posession.

The first sports memory I have is sitting at a sports bar with my dad and watching Nolan win #300. I was only 5 at the time.

Nolan is and always will be my favorite baseball player. Probably my second favorite athlete of all time, behind Emmitt.

You might want to check your stats because Wilt's career average was 30.1 per game, the same as Jordan's. BTW, Jordan never came close to Wilt's 2nd best season of 44.8 let alone his best season of 50.4 per game. In fact, Wilt had 5 seasons where he averaged better than Jordan's best of 37.1 per game.

Wilt's career rebound average was 22.9 per game and in his worst season he averaged 18.2. Jordan's career average is 6.2 and his best season was 8.0, Wilt's best was 27.2 per game.

Even in assists Wilt has Jordan beat having averaged 8.6 one season compared with Jordan's best of 8.0 per game.

I personally don't consider Jordan as the greatest ever, that title belongs to Wilt Chamberlain. Did I mention that he NEVER fouled out of a game?

Unfortunately the NBA didn't start keeping stats on blocked shots until AFTER Wilt retired or he would have another HUGE advantage over Jordan in that category as well.

When you take their game as a whole (scoring, rebounding, passing, defense, etc.) Wilt was far and away the most dominant player of all-time.

I would say Wilt's other self professed record.

The guy was taller than anyone else yet the guy who was close to being as tall as him( Bill Russell has 11 championships compared to 2 for Wilt)

NFL - most championships won by a player(i belive thats 5, so that means when im done well have 11 super bowls baby!!!)

NBA - most champinships won by a player and team!(i believe that would be russell and anyone lucky enough to play with him along with the lakers a celtics as far as teams goes) so that would give the spurs 17 championships instead of 3(which is still more than 0, mavs fans!!)

Futbol - most world championships (at this rate i would have to be 44 to win the next 6!!!)

disc gold(my next favorite sport) - shoot an -11 at peace park in austin (my current record is +21 hahahahaha)

IN Wilt's defense, Russell played on vastly superior teams. Not taking anything away from Bill Russell, at all, but I think you have to factor that into the championship counts.

This is an excellent post IMO. I would say that you have to consider the fact that the NBA Wilt played in, as opposed to the one Jordan played in was very different. Wilt played the majority of his career against players who were not physically able to match up with him night in and night out. I think this has to be factored in but on the whole, I would have to agree. Jordan is labled as the best because of when he played. He was the bennifactor of the Media and huge marketing by the NBA. Wilt was not. Wilt was certainly one of the very best to ever play and I believe, better then Michael Jordan. Was he the best of all time? I don't know about that. I think that Kareem Looms there. Jabar may have been better. It's tough to say. It's all all about match ups. For example, Wilt was dominate but he would have gotten punished by Shaq phyically. He would have been beaten at his own strength in that match up. However, Shaq would have been abused by Hakeem Olajuwon. Just too much mobility and an outside shot to go with extrem quickness. Hakeem would have been dominated by Jabar because he could not stop the sky hook. It's tough to say but ceratinly the youth of the NBA fan today has little concept of how good a great many of these players actually were. The NBA, believe it or not, does not start and stop at Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. This, coming from a life long Tar Heel Basketball fan.

Jordan was better. Jordan dominated a game with great athletes. Wilt dominated a game with lessor athletes. I would wager had Jordan played in Wilt's day he would have dominated him too...

Had Jordan played in Wilt's day, he may not have even been the best guard playing at the time, let alone the best player.
