My short list would be Bellichik, Petyton, Pete Carroll and Gruden.
Bellichik does get grief here but like someone has said, he has a system that is bigger than the players. They interject players in and out and the system just works. They had almost no Wide Receiver talent last year, one TE ithey cut because he was in jail and another on the training bench injured, a revolving door at running back, and holes galore on defense and still made the AFC championship.
Peyton because he should have had the job in the first place. Had 18 years of NFL coaching experience before he got the New Orleans job (unlike Opie's 4 years). I think he could have gotten that 2007 team over the hump.
Pete Carroll only because he reminds me of Jimmy Johnson a bit. At times I think this team needs the energy of a Pete Carroll or Jim Harbaugh as Head Coach.
Gruden because he has done it before with meddlesome owners in Oakland AND Tampa. He knows how to work around them. He has a system that works too. Has that energy like Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh. It's not a tangible thing, you either have it or you don't, and I don't think Garrett has it. Plus I always thought Romo may have been better suited in a West Coast Offense.
