I wouldn't have taken Switzer, I would have selected QB Joshua Dobbs.
Look, the reality is, a team needs 2 good quarterbacks to win consistently. Which quarterbacks can you look at, regardless of achievement, and not see a season where he was mostly, if not completely, unavailable. And where can you find a backup with potential that makes less than a million a year for the next three seasons?
The worst that could happen would be for the Cowboys to turn into a QB farm for desperate teams in exchange for premium draft picks.
New England didn't invent this, it was our Dallas Cowboys. The trade of Craig Morton gave us Randy White. The trade of Steve Walsh gave us a 1st round and 3rd round pick one year, and a 2nd round pick in another year.
The position has not been given enough consideration since 1989. Heck, the Cowboys in the 60's would draft up to three quarterbacks a year.....of course there was 17 rounds....but the point I am making is too much money gets wasted on a guy that sits on a bench making millions, until it is time for him to get in there and help lose the frickin' game. I have had it with the Weedens and Cassels and Ortons and the other overpaid 2nd tier veterans.
