I'm cautiously optimistic. On paper the draft was absolutely great! Let's see these guys perform.
Hopefully with some training, these guys can develop into a top tier secondary.

The board euphoria is a bit much but not uncommon for fans following a draft. I do like the Cowboys picks and I like the sweeping youth movement,,,, reminds me of the early Jimmy days. There will be some growing pains but, hopefully, they will hit on most of these picks and the players will all hit their prime at the same time. Blammo!

Marinelli must feel like a kid on Christmas Day with all his new toys
dont forget the best part- Drew giving Philly a smackdown witnessed by the whole country that they will never live down
The great thing about it was he did it first. Now everyone is going to be copying what he did, like several presenters tried to do. It's like telling a great joke that gets everyone laughing then other people telling it and wondering why it isn't as funny.
Even when Phiily fans dis us with the voice of thousands, we STILL rule them with the voice of one. :)

Defense was upgraded in a major way, looks like special teams was too if Switzer can carry over just a fraction of his college return success he'll have np beating out Lucky for return duties.

Great draft.

I mostly agree, based on how it all shook out I liked our draft quite well and I don't say that most years. I would not have changed the first three picks but I wasn't crazy about four. Loved the Brown and Woods picks. I probably would've gone another route on the White and Carrol picks though. Watching some Poison ivy tape has me cautiously optimistic about that pick but all the DL picks outside Taco will have an uphill climb to stick in the roster

Now, let's take a mental trip with the above...

New England just traded away about 2/3rds of their draft picks, for proven veterans...but with an 'added salary,' my guess.

Dallas just added and adjusted with new youth coming into the organization...the old fashioned and traditional manner for a managed team.

Now, in three seasons, who will be farther along?

New England
New York Giants
Dallas Cowboys

New England in a runaway. They have better personnel (young and veteran) arguably a better draft than anyone given whom they picked, where they picked, and including Brandin Cooks (their effective first rounder), are in one of the best cap situations in the league, and have Belichick -- the greatest coach of this generation, and likely all time, and one of the best personnel guys in the league.

Food for thought -- the Giants as of this moment have roughy $8MM in available cap space. The Cowboys have less than $5MM. Meanwhile the Patriots -- the prohibitive favorite for yet another title -- currently have OVER $24MM in cap space. And their roster now is actually BETTER than the one that walked off the field in Houston this past February. They are true magicians.

There is a reason they have more Lombardis that anyone else on your list, even though they started collecting them way later than the other two.

And if it weren't for Eli (the only QB who during the Pats era can top Brady in the big game), New England would have lapped everyone in titles already with more on the horizon.

You could just see it on his face how much he was loving that. I thought it was great but I hope Philly doesn't decide to put it on repeat in the locker room from now till we play.....
Actually, that would work in our favor. Imagine a message in an Eagles locker room touting the fact we're the 5 time world champion Dallas Cowboys? You couldn't buy that much subliminal messaging. ;)

My only problem with this draft was that it was in Philly. I think I wore out the "mute" button on my TV remote from whenever the Eagles made a pick and they started singing that Fly Eagles Fly song. Ugh.
But we wouldnt have had the epic Drew Pearson introduction if it weren't in Philly. He basically stole Philly's moment just like he did with his late heroics in his day.
So fitting. :)

I like this quote from KD Drummond:

The secondary is where the biggest question marks are and where the most movement can take place in training camp.

One thing is for sure, the Cowboys carpet bombed the secondary. The battle for playing time will be intense all summer and should force the cream to rise to the top.

Red always talks about competition. With this draft class and the two holdovers (Jaylon and Tapper) from last year, there should be plenty of high powered competition in training camp. I can't wait to see how it unfolds.

I'm not in love with Taco but it was a solid pick, given the options.

I love Awuzie. Many of us would've been ok with him at 28.

Lewis is our best pick. The best cover corner in the draft.

Not Switzers biggest fan. But I like the idea.

Woods isn't the sure thing fans are pretending he is. He needs to get stronger and get coached up. But he has undeniable football instincts and ball skills. I have high hopes for him in a couple years.

I love the Brown pick. Developmental guy for the practice squad.

White might surprise us and make the team. I like his long term potential, like Brown and Woods.

Would've liked to see more pass rush players. We went a little too DB heavy.

That said, we got two or three starters out of this and an elite punt returner. Solid draft. B

The Cowboys nailed it. This draft was a massive success. Having Charlton and Awuzie fall to them was unexpected; and trading up to get Woods was my favorite move.

Remember, the 5th we gave up to get Woods will be cancelled out by us getting some comp picks from this year's free agent losses. He didn't cost a thing, really.

The Woods move is my early favorite too. And Lewis looks like an absolute steal too.

So, in a couple of years, when Brady is not still on firm legs, and there are next to no youth from this draft...think free agency will still be the 'cheap' road taken?

After seeing the piece on NFLN on Awuzie, he became my favorite player (of realistic guys that could be there); when he fell to the end of round two, I was ecstatic about them picking him...the only other time I remember in recent history liking a pick more was our 2nd rounder last year when they grabbed Jaylon (I am a huge ND fan)....I was so-so on Charlton, but I can see the attraction and I understand why they took him...but, while I like that pick, I loved the next several...

Note: I love the comment above where the Cowboys carpet bombed the secondary; I was saying similar things to friends yesterday (just not as clever)
