Hire an aggressive young defensive coordinator. One with a proactive mindset opposed to Marinelli's reactive mindset.

I would give Jerry and Stephen plenty of alcohol or whatever til I I could finish doing my job.

They might not wake up for a week or two.

If you were the GM of the Cowboys what moves would you make to improve the team? Who would you get rid of and what areas would you try to upgrade?
-Fire Garrett and bring in a top line head coach
-Bring in a new DC. Let the new head coach clean house if he wants
-Cut Heath
-trade Dez
-trade for Martavius Bryant
-Play all the young guys in the secondary from here on out
-Use the draft and FA to bolster the defense, should have plenty of money. Sign Calias Campbell in the offseason. Think he is on a one year contract.
-resign Lawrence
-Cut McFadden and get another young stud RB in here to backup Zeke
-Trade or cut Williams the WR and play Martavius the rest of the year as the #2
-Sign, trade for, or draft a top line safety.

Here is what I would do:

1. In the offseason I would make a Witten take a pay cut to about half of what he is currently making or cut or trade him. If he stayed I would use his savvy on 3rd down but I would cut his snaps in half.

2. I would draft a STUD linebacker if possible in one of the top two rounds. I would also try to draft a linebacker late as a backup. He would have speed to burn.

3. I would look to unload Dez Bryant. Hopefully to someone who is enamored with his reputation but doesn't see that he sucks. If not cut his pay in at least half and use him as a number 2 possession receiver. If he wouldn't take a pay cut I would cut him.

4. Draft a true number 1 wide receiver in the first or second round.

5. Move Collins back inside. Pay or draft a right tackle.

6. Draft or pay for a true 1 tech.

You ain’t fooling anyone with your undercover trash Dez threads

If I was GM I would continue to do what Jerry is doing let the coaches and staff do their jobs. I would still like for someone to tell me when GMs started making coaching decisions about what types of players they want to play in their systems

What is the definition of insanity again?

Where are we getting all of these early draft picks.
Are we trading Herschel Walker again?

Just drafting a stud WR sounds easier than it is. Ask the Commanders, Eagles, Vikings etc how these stud WR’s usually turn out.

You don’t strengthen your team by exercising your personal biases against quality players and replacing them with crap shots called the NFL draft.

Well, there are lots of nice suggestions here none of which will likely happen anytime soon.
Jerry isn't going anywhere until the Big Guy in the Sky takes him home and then Stephen is
going to run things pretty much like his Dad taught him. They are not going to get rid of the coaches
until the team totally quits on them. They will hold on to their older players at least 1 year longer than
they should and they will mismanage the cap like Jerry always has. That's the name of this tune.

I would have gone after a run stuffing DT. We are very weak up the middle. This would allow us to keep Irving at the 3-tech. Maybe get a pricey 1-tech for the season and dump the contract. I also think they could have gotten a longer term #2 WR although I don't know why they haven't started Butler in place of T-Will.

YR

Isn't Irving playing the 3 Tech? I thought it was Collins who they moved to the 1 tech?

Whatever dude.

He's spot on. On its face, trading Dez if you could, might not be a terrible idea depending on the return and how you address the WR from that point on.

But you didn't just say that. You had to go further and went on to say to trade him to a team that "doesn't see he sucks". So yeah it kind of looks like a Dez bashing in disguise.

I would fire Garrett and hire a stud young innovative coach.
I would fire Linehan or however you spell his name, and hire an innovative coordinator.
I would fire Marinelli and hire a coach with a better scheme, lined at getting turnovers.

I would move Collins away from RT and find a replacement.
I would titer with the LG position to see which sticks.
I'd draft or FA a stud FAST wide receiver, make him the primary receiver.
I'd redo Dez's contract. If he refuses, I'd trade him.
Witten will be 2nd TE.
I'd promote Butler over Williams. tinker with it.

I'd draft/FA a safety.
I'd draft a fat fast DT
I'd move Smith to a different LB position and rush him at times.
I'd go after a stud CB.

My coordinator will instruct Dak to be more aggressive, if he can't, my next draft will be QB even if I have to move my entire draft to get him.

If none of this works, then I keep being aggressive until I have the team I want in place.

Actually, not bad. Not bad at all.

I will go with the assumption that the 4th Jones child, Jason Garrett, keeps his job because Jerry the owner wouldn't allow me to fire him but obviously firing Garrett would be the top of my list depending on how this season turns out. These are just in random order.

1) New DC. Maybe the single most important move of the offseason. And it doesn't really matter how this season turns out, I am getting a new DC.

2) I am looking at Bennie Logan this offseason. Perfect 1 Tech. Has played NT as well. He's only going to be 28 and he's productive. Signed a one year deal for $7MM this year with KC. If he shakes free, I am all over him.

3) Franchise Lawrence, tender Irving

4) Sign an Eric Reid or TJ Ward at SS to provide some vet leadership in the secondary as you will have a very young secondary next year.

5) Witten takes a pay cut, which I suspect he would. I look to restructure Dez. Trading him is not out of the question, however, I am not sure what I might get so he might have more value here than in a trade.

6) In the draft, I am wide open. Take the BPA. If Cooper shows he's not the answer at LG, I would absolutely take a guy like McGlinchey from ND in the first round, make him the RT and move Collins back to LG. I am hoping the OL continues to gel and makes this moot. If that BPA is a DE like a Chubb, you take him. There really isn't a position I don't consider taking with my 1st round pick - S, LB, DT, DE, OT, WR, TE. Well I wouldn't take a TB in the first round. That's just dumb.

7) Bring in a vet LB. Doesn't have to be a stud but just someone who can be another solid backup type. Durant is gone.

8) In the draft, I am also looking for a WR, possibly in the 2nd or 3rd round. I think I have to start remaking the secondary.

9) This one might enflame some............ I'd look to do something with Beasley. Now this is predicated on what they think of Switzer but if you trade or cut Beasley you can save $3.3MM against the cap. The guy has 16 catches this year, not exactly lighting it up.
