I would sign a veteran strong safety and run stuffing tackle. (I would have already signed TJ Ward and Jonathan Hankins. I would also have considered Micah Hyde and Jamaal Charles)

I would spend my draft capital on a WR to groom as my future #1 and a LB.

I would have gotten Ajayi for a fourth. Or AP cheaply. Id have also put effort into LB depth a saftey and a run stuffer. But I guess none of that is possible?

You obviously have to go BPA but if you are going to draft a receiver to be your number 1 you have to consider taking him in the first or second round. It's not a must and you don't force the pick, but I think if a number one receiver is there then you pull the trigger on him. This is as much about salary cap as performance.

Linebacker. You can get a really good one in the first three rounds in most drafts. We will need one worse if Jaylon isn't going to pan out. We will know more about this prior to April. If Jaylan hasn't fully healed by April, you assume he isn't going to and whatever you get out of Jaylon is found money.

1 Tech. We could get good value out of a 1 tech really anywhere in the first four rounds of most drafts.

Needs may not like up with draft grades. If a top linebacker is there in the first take him if he is your BPA. If it's a receiver, get him.

You can get RB draft value often in the 3rd round. We have a lot of picks. We need to use them to manipulate the draft to get what we want out of it.
I would replace scouts with a team of Psych experts and private investigators.

I'll do all the scouting myself using game film. I can see Claiborne's talent on film but his mental makeup is what caused him to fail. I need help from the experts to differentiate guys I want to draft based on mental makeup:
Michael Irvin - Draft
Dez - Off the draft board.

Frank Clark - Draft
Randy Gregory - Off the draft board.

Vontaze Burfict - Draft
Rolando McClain - Off the draft board.

I would have frequent meetings with Cheerleaders to get their input...

I would invite the top 10 message board critics to a meeting and ask them to bring their plan. Those people's families would then receive notices that they had been hired by the Cowboys as international scouts and would not be returning home or contacting their families for a long period of time...

I would set it up for the Dez Fan Boiz to receive intense psychotherapy after I cut him in the middle of a game.

I would hire the real-life Tony Soprano to resolve the Goodell problem. He would also pay a visit to Goodell's replacement and to the Refs. Bad calls against the Cowboys would result in Refs having either their signature or their brains on a resignation letter. No horses would be harmed in the process.

Stop this idea that all free agency is bad. You can be smart, aggressive, even creative with free agents.
Haley, back in the early 90s had an impact for us.
But that is rare. Even then, Haley had to alienate the 40whiners to be traded.

I would lure Romo away from CBS and offer him the OC job. The following year I would offer him the HC job. Then I would step down so McClay can become GM. Then I would go back to being a Monday morning QB

This isn't about any one defensive player / coach / strategy that is the issue -- it's about the front office's philosophy on team building / cap allocation.

71% of the Cowboy's cap allocation is spent on offense, 29% on defense.

That tells you everything you need to know about why the Cowboy's defense is an below average defense.

But that will change once the players that are up for contract like Irving, Dlaw get signed.

I would let them make me money while I live in the Mediterranean somewhere like Greece, Portugal or the South of France. I would fly in for games and fly out after :flagwave:

Yeah. I said it a lot more nicely in my last post to be nice so as not to offend very thin skinned Dez fans. My opinion of him has not gone up since I said he sucks, but I am trying to be nicer about it these days.

Let's not let Witten or Taco off the hook either. But at least with Taco he still has time to get paid and isn't eating up a huge chunk of our cap just to keep him around.

Some of you guys beat heath to death every day all day and I think he is ok and may eventually turn into a player but you don't hear me crying like a ***** over it every time someone bashes Heath. Man you guys seriously need to grow up and stop being so sensitive.

I'll bet the Heath bashes over Dez bashes are 3 to 1. Lol. At least Heath isn't "stealing" $70 Million Dollars by underperforming his contract. SMH.

You should probably look in the mirror over your obsession. It appears to the rest of us outside of X that you are clearly thin skinned when it comes to Dez. Every post is you obsessing over him... Scary

Haley was acquired in a trade, not as a free agent.

Deion was the free agent that got us over the hump to win the 3rd nineties Super Bowl.

Trade, free agent, the concept is the same, a veteran from somewhere else, lowlands ruffian!
And, yes, Deion, is another example --- two good examples from ... 20-something years ago?

I guess you want to bring him up so we can discuss him some more, but pretend to not want to discuss "The One Of Whom We Do Not Speak".

We are just discussing the merits of a point of view in my personal opinion. Im usually pretty optimistic about our team and players. Just not so much about a few of them.

As to Greece, nix that. Too many rough Serbs in the bars there. South of France too crowded with the new-money riffraff. Barcelona!

As to your FO adventure, whimsical bloke, that is why we love you. Selfless, willing to step away for the good of the team . . . No, ruffian, that's just something tha got in me eye ... me good eye...

Which is what is crazy to me. You’ve always been pretty even, but you’ve gone a tad overboard on this Dez situation bro. Just pointing it out. I’m not the only who sees it, and honestly it’s not usually your MO.

I'm usually the voice of reason. Thanks for noticing.
