Yep. They are poor at drafting defensive players.
They were bad at signing them too.

Thing is, I just think the whole organization is not good at evaluating defense and honestly not that interested in it.

Defense does not sell tickets, nor does it get you the superstars that are going to propel the money train.

Defense has always been a secondary concern in Dallas as long as Jerry Jones has owned the team. The few times we got better on defense it when when he went out and spent big to get Haley and especially Deion Sanders.

If something is not stressed it is not evaluated well because there are not as many resources are being spent on it to get it right.

Right now we are spending on offense, the OL to be specific. We were spending it all on the QB and WR before.

Move Jones to corner
Move Cheeto to safety
Get rid of Wilson and Wilber
Draft a LB early
Franchise DLaw
Move Collins to LG, Green to RT
Draft a RT for when Green goes down
Force Dez to take a pay cut
Extend Zack
Spend some FA money in the back 7

I made it thru Two pages of this Garbage

That is one more page than I made it through. Read the first page and then jumped to the last page to see if saner minds prevailed.

I am watching 'real GMs' at work who cannot even do trade paperwork properly, a GM who trades Ajayi for a 4th, another GM has Cam Newton scratching his head after trading Benjamin. Denver is halfway through the season starting from scratch looking for a QB along with numerous other teams. Many GMs looking back and wondering why they didn't draft Frederick, Martin, Dak, etc. Many GMs second and triple guessing themselves. Buffalo was tanking alongside the Jets until they found out they are much better without all the malcontents and underperformers. Dolphins are a train wreck. Giants are a sinking ship. Skins look lost in a dessert wondering which way to turn with Cousins and no skill players. Balt and Cinci look to have sunk to Clev level. Seattle has no OL and their defense is showing its age. Az is still trotting out Palmer who plain stinks. TB stinks. Atl never got over their brain fart super bowl performance and looks worse. Carolina has no WRs and just traded away their best one. GB's GM doesn't look all-world anymore without Rodgers. Chicago is throwing the ball less than 10 times a game. If it weren't for Deshaun Watson, both GM and coach would probably already be fired in Houston. Tenn trying to get to mediocrity. The Colts? What a joke. Chargers draft a WR at #7 and he has a bad back and has played a handful of snaps. These are just the ones that come to mind quickly. I am sure there are plenty of other GM gaffes and screw-ups to fill pages, especially this year.

This isn't about any one defensive player / coach / strategy that is the issue -- it's about the front office's philosophy on team building / cap allocation.

71% of the Cowboy's cap allocation is spent on offense, 29% on defense.

That tells you everything you need to know about why the Cowboy's defense is an below average defense.

Yeah. You have guys like Dez and Witten that are eating way more than they should in terms of cap allocation and snaps. If you cut both of those underperforming contracts and added it to the defensive side of the ball it would be in reasonable balance immediately,

Do any of you guys realize that we could have three starting quality LBs for the cost of Dez' contract alone?

And the Cowboys GM has delivered a team that has won 2 playoff games in 20 years.

So if you are trying to argue that the Cowboys are really competent compared to all the teams you listed, you might want to factor that little fact into the equation.

1 Dez Bryant = 2 Donta Hightowers

Legitimately which of the above makes us a better team? Seriously.

@Verdict did Dez Bryant steal your girlfriend? Not call your sister back?

Your hate for him seems over the top..

Focus your hatred on where it belongs.... Jeff Heath obviously.

Yet it is hard to argue that the Cowboys have not done much better in the Garrett years acquiring talent. The last 5 years the Cowboys have been one of the better drafting teams if not the best. I'll give you that the Campo years were embarrassing but that was a long, long time ago.

2 out of the last 3 years we have been at the top of the stack in terms of record and the other year we didn't have a QB.

They signed Paea because he was cheap, their favorite trait for a FA, and a Marinelli guy. There were people who were not behind that deal. I recall Poe got a lot of discussion here, even Logan. Two guys that would have helped this team a lot.

In fact, I'd be all over Logan this offseason as I said, if KC parts ways with him.
Logan would be a good get, but unless he comes cheap, I'd pass on Poe. He's battled, injuries, and weight issues the past couple of seasons.

Stick your head in the sand and ignore the opportunity cost of over paying a mediocre Dez and Witten. The criticism is legitimate. Factor in Dez childish behavior on the sidelines and the need for talent on the defense and it's obvious that they are a HUGE part of what is holding the Cowboys back.

And only have one playoff win.

If you want to feel better about the drafting, that's fine. But they still don't appear very good at using everything at their disposal to build a more rounded and balanced roster.

It's hard to take you and your analysis of Bryant seriously when you claim he "sucks".

Playoff wins is a measuring stick for sure, but it is not the only measuring stick. We could easily been 14 and 2 last year. That is significant. 13 and 3 is kick ***. If you could do that every year you would be in the hunt for a super bowl every year.

Retire. Game's passed me by. Pass down to son. Forever until this happens. No matter the amount of wins or losses. Team is better in Stephen's hands.
