What positions would you focus on in the offseason to improve the club-

Of course draft position will play a role and lets assume we ll be drafting at 25 next year.

I would focus on olineman in the draft- our oline is average at best-

In the first round, I agree 100%. We have some solid OL on the team, but we need some GOOD OL on the team. We need a GOOD center and a GOOD RT. I love Petitti as a backup, but we need someone better as the starter. Maybe Petitti will show a lot of improvement (I hope he does) the second half of the season.

O-line early in the draft. A WR in the middle of the draft. A QB in the later rounds.

Safety, Kicker, and WR in free agency.

Deffinatly a fullback, and a kicker. I wouldn't mind taking the best kicker in the nation with our first pick @ 32 (Nathan Crosby) from Colorado, and maybe with a late pick taking Lawrence Vickers also from Colorado. Vickers has potential, he can run, catch and block very well, and Crosby is just plain sick, he 55 yarders consistantly on the road away from elevation.

If I am Jerry Jones I go after a FS and Kicker in Free agency. It will not take that much $ to do it either. Then I look for bargains at O-Line, and there always seems to be a good bargain at LB.

In the Draft I am all over O-Lineman, a Stud WR if we get the chance, and a FB.

If we draft a kicker in the first round I guarantee Jerry Jones and/or Bill Parcells will end up in the hospital.

Hey, I posted a thread yesterday about Vickers. I really liek this guy. Very versatile and would fit in perfect.

You are right about Crosby. He is a stud! Big leg to. There are a lot of good kickers in FA this year though.

OL, OL, OL....kicker and safety. Possibly another pass-rushing OLB as well, depending on what our plans are for Burnett.

I want to see a young receiver acquired, but I'd place more importance on protecting Bledsoe than I would getting him another weapon. When he has time, our current group of receivers is more than good enough.

I think a free safety might be the only thing our defense is really lacking. You could argue we need another "Ware" on the other side at linebacker, as well.

And we need a kicker for obvious reasons.

You don't need to draft a kicker in the first round to have a good kicker. There's only ONE kicker in the NFL that was drafted in the first round, and he's not even that good.

Again, if we drafted a kicker in the first freakin' round Jerry Jones and/or Parcells will get hurt.

I agree. Drafting a kicker in the first round isn't the answer. :)

Didn't someone say Rackers is a free agent? Although, he may never see the market.

When did the cards get Rackers anyway? I sure wish we'd signed him when he became a FA. That dude is a great kicker.

By the way, Rackers was a 6th round pick. Yeah, let's use a first round on a kicker!

The way i see it if we can draft a quarterback who WILL win us 4 games a year we would do it regardless of who is on the market, so why is that diffrent for any other position?

kickers in the first round

Brett Conway
Sebastian Janikowski
Mike Nugent-first pick for jets 15th of second round last year(selected because he wins games that Doug Brian would have lost! and did in the playoffs!)

I agree about the O line for the most part. Our offensive line is MUCH better than it has been in the past few years we still have a ways to go.
Where I dissagree is getting a quarterback in the later rounds, we do not need another project quarterback. As far as projects go Henson and Romo is as good as any. We need someone who can come in and do something special and those are few and far between.
Back to the offensive line, I think they still need help but I expect good things from this group in a year or so. It usually takes several years for an offensive linemen to be any good, with the injuries and all this group should really be healthy and good next year. Curly

1. You SURE Brett Conway was drafted in the first round?

2. Conway isn't in the NFL.

3. Janikowski is a good reason NOT to draft a kicker in the first round.

4. Nugent has hit on a whopping 62% of his kicks so far this year. Another good reason NOT to draft a kicker in the first round.

5. Another reason you don't draft a kicker in the first round, obviously, is because you DON'T HAVE TO DRAFT A KICKER IN THE FIRST ROUND TO FIND A GOOD KICKER.

6. If you find ONE person that agrees with you about drafting a kicker in the first round I'll be shocked. Absolutely shocked.
