This is exactly what I was thinking. Pay Pickens and Javonte and your offense is set for at least 3 years. Spend both 1's and your 2's on defense over the next 2 drafts and that should be 6 young, cheap starters. Plug a couple other defensive holes in free agency and that is your best recipe for maximizing Dak's remaining window. Then prosper.
- Step 1: Extend Pickens. With him and CeeDee I DARE teams to stack the box. That being said:
- Step 2: Extend 25-year old Javonte Williams. You think he's able to run hard now vs light boxes? Just think when December comes. Old man winter makes defenders not wanna tackle bruising backs like Javonte.
- Step 3: do NOT trade either of the two 1st round picks coming in the 2026 and 2027 NFL drafts. Use those day 1 and day 2 picks to fix the defense.
agree 100%. Our Oline is YOUNG and locked up. Ferguson is locked up, Lamb and Dak locked up. Lock up the RB and Pickens... use whomever as your 3 wr. Tolbert??? sorry bud, you got to go. Mingo has another year on his rookie deal. This is exactly what I was thinking. Pay Pickens and Javonte and your offense is set for at least 3 years. Spend both 1's and your 2's on defense over the next 2 drafts and that should be 6 young, cheap starters. For a number two that's around 29 million no more than 30 and I'm betting he'll reject that he wants number one money he wants to be the guy that's making all the big plays all the targets and he will leave here and that would not be Jerry's fault and I'm sorry you guys are really reaching on this it is not up to Jerry and Steven this is all on George and David and they are going to go and use the Cowboys to get the biggest bag they can next year somewhere else..Whatever the going rate is next year
who you think you can get on defense that can have a bigger impact on the game for us than Pickens? Having Pickens absolutely opens up EVERYTHING. The defenses are screwed trying to defend this team. Lamb, Pickens, Williams, Ferguson..... simply too much to deal with.Really would like to know his value in the trade market. Would rather use $30 million on the defense but don’t want to lose him for a compensatory pick.
George played in Steelerland and was miserable. You think if the Saints offered him 33 million per, he would jump just to be miserable again? For a number two that's around 29 million no more than 30 and I'm betting he'll reject that he wants number one money he wants to be the guy that's making all the big plays all the targets and he will leave here and that would not be Jerry's fault and I'm sorry you guys are really reaching on this it is not up to Jerry and Steven this is all on George and David and they are going to go and use the Cowboys to get the biggest bag they can next year somewhere else..
What do you mean you can't let him go he will have full control outside the tag of where he goes He can make starter money somewhere you cannot pay him starter money you are delusional you can't set up a team like the Bengals and not have a defense because you're over paying two receivers yes if you give him T Higgins money that would be a nice offer he's not taking that he can get $35 million a year elsewhere Even if it's 32 or 33 that's $3 million more a year the Cowboys can't afford that they can't afford a penny over 30 his agent is not going to let him sign right now he knows there'll be a bidding war for him that will be good for the Cowboys that means trade offers in the first or second round they will tender him in a franchise tag and get more money for him bigger draft pick for us he's leaving come to grips with this this is not on the front office he is playing his way into a starter job we do not have a starter job available..who you think you can get on defense that can have a bigger impact on the game for us than Pickens? Having Pickens absolutely opens up EVERYTHING. The defenses are screwed trying to defend this team. Lamb, Pickens, Williams, Ferguson..... simply too much to deal with.
i said this the day we got Pickens. The guy is a stud, but has played with garbage at the qb position since he entered the league,
I predicted 80 catches, 1200 yards and 8 TDs during training camp.
Hes gonna end up with 12 tds. You can NOT let him go. We traded to get him for a reason, and it wasnt to be a 1 year rental.
You use all those draft picks to fix this defense, but your offense is already fixed.
As some players take the money yes and I'm thinking it's more than that i'm sorry dude 35 million is probably what he's going to get you guys act like he's a clear number one and one of the best receivers in the league and now you want to undervalue him the other top receivers are making 38 to $41 million a league they're at least you think he can't get 35 elsewhere yeah I think $5 million a year and that doesn't mean he has to go too the Saints.George played in Steelerland and was miserable. You think if the Saints offered him 33 million per, he would jump just to be miserable again?
Tee Higgins got a four-year, $115 million dollar deal. That is the STARTING point for George.
Pickens would take that deal in a heartbeat. Dk is the #4 paid wr in the league and only got 60m in guaranteed money. If you put $80m in front of Pickens he’d be a fool not to sign.No I don't understand some of y'all you're delusional you don't live in reality you know who his agent is they are not allowing him to just sign now for that when they know they could probably get 35 elsewhere so that they'll make him wait until the end of the season they'll make the Cowboys franchise tag him and then they'll wait for the bigger bids and the bigger money This isn't happening during the season 'cause David isn't gonna allow it to happen he wants number one money not number two money yes that would be a very good top of the market for a number two it would be the highest number two does he want to be a number two does he want to be paid like a number two I'd say the answer is no..
Y'all really live in Magnum fantasy football worlds where you think you could just offer a player early and they just say yes that's not how it works they know the more he plays well this year the bigger that bag is going to get and that bag is somewhere else as a number one.
Did Pickens trade to come to Dallas , or did Dallas trade for Pickens? The Iggles have 2 very highly paid Wrs and a highly paid running back.... dont tell me im delusional. Teams can do what they want.... just depends on how bad they want to do something. What do you mean you can't let him go he will have full control outside the tag of where he goes He can make starter money somewhere you cannot pay him starter money you are delusional you can't set up a team like the Bengals and not have a defense because you're over paying two receivers yes if you give him T Higgins money that would be a nice offer he's not taking that he can get $35 million a year elsewhere Even if it's 32 or 33 that's $3 million more a year the Cowboys can't afford that they can't afford a penny over 30 his agent is not going to let him sign right now he knows there'll be a bidding war for him that will be good for the Cowboys that means trade offers in the first or second round they will tender him in a franchise tag and get more money for him bigger draft pick for us he's leaving come to grips with this this is not on the front office he is playing his way into a starter job we do not have a starter job available..
Or delusional it's an embarrassment of riches you can't pay two top receivers top money Like I said if he wanted to accept 30 million tops like that offer says above with 75 to 80 million guaranteed then fine keep him if not bye bye George and please do not cry when he's on the way out because he used the Cowboys to get a better job and more money he wants to be a clear number one somewhere he wants to be the guy He's not staying here..
You think they should pay him over 30 or give him whatever he wants like 33 to 35 million you're delusional that is not how you run a cap franchise you try to keep him yes but he's not going to be happy this is David Parsons agent we're talking about they are flat out using Dallas and they will have plenty of offers that are way outside number two money..
No way we're not doing that AJ Brown makes a lot more money than Smith That's the point If he wants too much money as the number two you can't do it... No no they can't not at the expense of the rest of your team we know where all our big problems are and right now it's not at receiver we have CD lamb we have Turpin we have guys like Fournoy and we have the draft coming up we do not need him he would be an embarrassment of riches so yes if he stayed here for 29.5 million then you sign him if he wants more than that you get rid of him for draft capital if you don't understand that I can't help you..Did Pickens trade to come to Dallas , or did Dallas trade for Pickens? The Iggles have 2 very highly paid Wrs and a highly paid running back.... dont tell me im delusional. Teams can do what they want.... just depends on how bad they want to do something.
We have th best offense in football, and I for one an dnot surprised.
Lets see how it plays out... but letting Michael walk allows us to do what we want.
It doesn't matter what the Eagles did by AJ Brown and Smith contracts are very different and right now that paying Saquon Barkley looks like A mistake just like Christian Mccaffrey that was a mistake We knew it was a mistake You should never pay a running back that kind of money I mean yeah 11 or 12 million but 19 and 20 that's ridiculous So yes paying George Pickens anything over 30 would be equally as ridiculous it would be a monumental mistake I'm saying 29.5 if not bye bye we will get a very high draft pick why are you scared of them going into the draft with the pick that they get from letting Pickens go and getting a good rookie..Did Pickens trade to come to Dallas , or did Dallas trade for Pickens? The Iggles have 2 very highly paid Wrs and a highly paid running back.... dont tell me im delusional. Teams can do what they want.... just depends on how bad they want to do something.

Trade Lamb???? cmon.... did you see the offense YESTERDAY. No way is the offense the same with Lamb out. Pickens and Lamb together are special. How long has it been since we had 2 WRs like this?I would try and trade Lamb and sign Pickens. He makes bigger catches and doesn't seem to have as many drops. Plus the offense has yet to be shut down when Lamb was out with injury.
Not that long ago my man Amari Cooper and Cd Lamb were a good pair but there was one year where they had Cooper a rookie Lamb and a prime gallop all over 1000 yards or close to it my bad rookie Lamb had just under 1000 yards so this isn't new this is just we've needed a number two for a while since Cooper left and now we have one but it's too bad he's played himself into a number one and he's not going to fit here monetarily unless he's willing to take number two money..Trade Lamb???? cmon.... did you see the offense YESTERDAY. No way is the offense the same with Lamb out. Pickens and Lamb together are special. How long has it been since we had 2 WRs like this?
Franchise tagAs some players take the money yes and I'm thinking it's more than that i'm sorry dude 35 million is probably what he's going to get you guys act like he's a clear number one and one of the best receivers in the league and now you want to undervalue him the other top receivers are making 38 to $41 million a league they're at least you think he can't get 35 elsewhere yeah I think $5 million a year and that doesn't mean he has to go too the Saints.
We will have plenty of offers hell I can see Some playoff teams that would love his services. Guys are outside of reality you think George and David are somehow not thinking big money and the fact that they still want to be a number one even if it's not on a better team I do get it he wants to go back to a situation where he's back like his Pittsburgh but in this case he'll have $35 million to smooth over those bumps just a little bit on a rookie deal it's a big deal when you're being disrespected but at 35 million they live with it..
I'd do that deal right now.Tee Higgins contract + cap% increase.
So, if the cap goes up 20mil to 300mil, then 7%+ Higgins deal of 4yr 115, so 4 year 123~125mil.
