If you're Schultz watching right now, what are you thinking?

Yeah I mean I’m glad we have some young guys so we don’t have to be desperate to pay Schultz.

but this thread makes it sound like his career is over. He’ll still be starting once he’s healthy.

I'm thinking that making it a point to watch Schultz is incredibly silly.

If I’m Schultz, I start talking to players of other teams to talk me up to coaches and owners if I want to get paid.

yeah, Dallas is not keeping him no matter what kind of discount. Not with two rookies on rookie deals. He is probably with his money managers and seeing how to invest the pot of gold he got this year...most money he has had in his lifetime for sure. Worry about next season next season.

Well we certainly don't need his experience in run blocking.

That’s where he’s been a liability, but he’s a very good pass receiving TE and he’s been a good security blanket for Dak. If the Cowboys make it to the playoffs and are facing a 3rd and 4 to either get in FG range to win in the closing seconds or run out the clock to preserve a victory, I have a lot more faith that Schultz will make the play in that situation than one of the rookies. I like their potential, but in a crucial moment with our season on the line I trust Schultz a lot more. He was one of the reasons we had a productive passing game last year and our offense was so good. Just because he’s had a down first 6 games of the season without Dak doesn’t mean he won’t pay dividends later in the season.

If I'm Schultz right now, I'm thinking about the bond market. 30 year T-Bills are yielding over 4% right now. Say he pockets $6M from his franchise tag... if he puts that all into Treasurys, he is getting around $200k post tax guaranteed and risk-free for half of his life.

Screw this football thing... you can do a lot of other fun stuff when 16 grand just falls out of the sky every month.

When Hollywood Henderson was asked what he was doing after winning his lottery windfall, he said "Not a damn thing, and I don't start that until after lunch." Schultz will be set.

He's probably thinking how lucky he is to get to play a game and make millions of dollars. I doubt that he has any worries about where his next meal is going to come from and just wants to get healthy and help his team win. I doubt he's too concerned about Ferguson or Hendershot as competition for his job right now.

If I'm Shultz I log on to Cowboys Zone daily to get N.F.L. contract advice from miscellaneous plumbers, cashiers, retirees, ditch diggers, delivery truck drivers, and Xerox employees.
.....but they'll also offer advice that you're not allowed to be injured.

If I'm Shultz I would be watching YouTube videos on how to block.

I heard that the Jets are gonna make him their target in the offseason.

I think he knew exactly what was going on when they tagged him. He knew that was a one year and mainly because they let #1WR and 3 walk.

I think he knows he's auditioning for his next team and is fine with that.

TE movement through FA is among the highest of the positions. I actually think keeping TE's after their 1st contract is the exception.

It wasn't long ago everyone here was praising him like a God.
Now that Dak is back he will become a bigger option and start putting up much better stats. He is Daks biggest check down option.

..right now seems like TE's are dime a dozen. Unless a team is desperate or delusional, dont think Shultz is the answer.

He's not really fast, hands are ok, cant block well. He's serviceable TE.

...was his checkdown. Hopefully, Dak will open the game with Rook TE's.

He will not be a Cowboy next year. If I was him I'd be paying Dak some money under the table to look my way as often as possible. He needs to show a team looking for a TE he is worth a least a decent contract.

You guys crapping on Shultz have no clue. Stick to your Madden game.

Meh he is just another pretty good tight end. He was dumb not to sign a long term deal and we were lucky to franchise him. Either way he is still rich so he will be fine.

...after seeing Henderson and Furgs playing some terrific ball. Are you concerned?

Furgs last game, played like no rookie. In fact, furgs was breath of fresh air for TE.

If I'm Schultz, I just saw my contract details enter speculation mode.

What do you suppose can be his next move? Wait and play out the season, hope that Dak's return, will be your stamp for leverage?
Notter things over, and play yer arse off, and hope for the best?

Signed, Schultz Sub/Ego
Schultz will not be signed here, period. Even if he agreed to a 4 year 16 million deal, wec let him walk in all likelihood, since the young guys appear to be legit. He just wants to play as well as possible to have leverage for whomever will sign him.
