That would honestly be such a classic Dallas Cowboys move to do on the first drive of the season. Start at the 1 yard line, run old man Zeke 3 times for no gain and kick a field goal, defense then gives up a long TD because of missed assignment then 3 and out the next drive.

With all of the RBs that were available this offseason, going out and getting only Zeke and then Jerry doubling down on him being a legit #1 on SAS the other day, was just mind boggling and was a microcosm of how they have run the team the past 10 years or so. Typical Jones Boyz not understanding the game or the cap. That being said he is absolutely going to be the starting back today. You shouldn't care who starts, what you should care about is who gets more of the important carries for the season and I agree that should be Dowdle unless something surprising happens. I think Zeke's role will diminish throughout the year. But, sadly we really don't have any good backs. I like Dowdle more than most but he is at best slightly below average for a starter and he would need to improve just to get to that level.

All that being said, what we should be most interested in IMO is our OL. We are young and powerful and if the rookies click and Steele is back to his pre-injury form (a lot of Ifs) we may just have ourselves a good running game and our offense was dominant last year even though Pollard wasn't himself until the last third of the season or so.I am cautiously optimistic that our run game will be better than most think and very optimistic we will have a top 10 offense even if it isn't. Maybe not week 1 on the road against a tough team, but by year end.

Im not really concerned about the first snap of the game. But overall, Dowdle has to be the "featured" back this season. He's the closest thing and only hope on the roster to deliver starting caliber NFL RB performance.
