Go get a vet and draft a RB or 2. 1 in the 2nd or 3rd, 1 in the 5th,6th or 7th. Then you have a nice group to bring to camp and see how that unfolds.

Draft a RB. Why pay 2 vets at RB when you can find great production in the draft at RB? That way you have 1 on a vet contract the other on a much less rookie deal.

Name them in order outside of Robinson ?
Charbonnet, Bigsby, Gibbs 2nd, Evans, Johnson 3rd, McBride Miller, Abinikanda, Mckintosh 4th to early 5th. Texans picked up Dameon Pierce in the 4th last season. RB position should be looked at as, a by committee of capable players, that can be walked away from after 4 or 5 seasons. Not by a 1st round draft pick workhorse, that a large contract has to be committed to after 5 seasons, in part to justify taking that player at the pick.

You can find a vet minimum RB later in free agency. A guy with some game experience and a camp body who might surprise.

How about Devon Achane out of Texas A & M? 5' 9" 185 pounds with a 4.32 time in the 40

"Achane profiles as an explosive, complementary back in the NFL that would work well in tandem with a more physical, downhill runner. For a team looking to add speed out of the backfield, Achane can be an x-factor for an NFL offense."

He is projected as a 2nd-round draft pick and his bio and abilities make him a possible replacement for Pollard who is on the 1-year franchise tag and coming off of a major injury.

Yes I know and you can find quality rookie RB at rookie deal. The position of RB especially backup RB would not be hard to fill in the draft. Really it is the most natural instinct position out there. This draft has a lot of quality RB in it

Rescind the Pollard tag
Cut Zeke
Sign a vet
Draft a RB in rd 3/4
If I was going to resciend the Pollard Tag than I better have something in place to move up in 1st Round
to secure Bijan

I think the running back closest to Zeke's style in the draft would be Zach Corbonnet from UCLA.

I prefer elite role backs to bell cows, but I can tell lots of people, and I suspect Jerry would prefer the bell cow back.

Robinson, Gibbs, Achane, Carbonnet, and even down to Gray and Deuce Vaughn could be productive backs in the right system, with the right plays called for them.

LOL No
Teams find impact starters at RB in rds 3-5 every year
This draft is very deep at RB
Sign a vet and draft a starter in rd 3/4

They will rue the day for letting Zeke go.:popcorn:...I just had to...

They need to draft a RB. Pollard is not the answer, not long term anyway. There is not a RB in FA that can replace Zeke. Except maybe Miles Sanders, and I say that almost wanting to laugh.
Plus he will be looking for Pollard type $$$.

Draft a RB, even if you have to trade up some to get Robinson. Then I want to see the responses and if any melt downs, contradictions.
From those that wanted Zeke gone or never drafted in the 1st round, or draft a RB in the 1st round. Are they the same ones that want Robinson in the 1st round?

I have not looked at the RB draft class yet beyond Robinson.
It's suppose to be a really deep class. No need to trade up.

Giving Pollard that tag shows they appear ready to have a shared backfield. They should be looking for another explosive back imo.

Bwaaaaaa!!!! Once again you defend the horrid zeke and bash pollard. Aren’t you tired of looking silly to the entire board on this subject?

Zeke could be replaced with a vet or rookie for peanuts

I'm thinking that will most likely be the answer BUT he want be from Texas we would have to move up
to high. If you look at the other RB's in the draft none have staggering stats to go by....hmmmmm
You don’t look at stats, that’s why ‍♂️. You look at tape and see how the player plays. There’s plenty of damn good backs in this draft. If we can’t get Bijan at 26 then you go for a back in rounds 3-4 with McBride or Bigsby. But there’s guys like Chase Brown and many others who will be good. This draft is deep at RB and TE positions.

The 26 pick is world's different than the 4th overall
Absolutely. Per the draft value chart (FWIW), the 26th overall is worth 700 points compared to 1,800 points for the #4 overall.

On the other hand, that 26th pick is worth TWO #23 picks in the second round (350 points each)
