I'm calling it early: Suh

That our next off season FA Target will be Suh...

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Lions are willing to let walk-year DT Ndamukong Suh reach the open market next offseason.

Per Rapoport, the Lions want an "informed" Suh to "sign a deal he’s happy with." It's a bizarre tact, one that would all but assure Suh leaves as a free agent. Players of his caliber almost never hit the open market. It's possible the Lions are simply tired of the Suh experience, but he's an irreplaceable presence up front.

Depends if the next coach plays a 4-3 than maybe.

1. Doubt we have the room to sign him.
2. While he is a great player at times, his on-field antics are starting to negate his value.
3. I have some faith in Rod making Suh cut down his mistakes, it says something when the Lions are willing to walk away from their 2nd best player for nothing.

Wouldn't surprise me, rumor is Suh wants to be the highest paid defensive player in the league and wants QB money. I'll leave it to Jerry to overspend on an overrated headcase like him.

Honestly, over the last few seasons it seems the mindset of the front office has changed. I don't believe Dallas would pursue him, much more likely he would go to Washington. Haynesworth 2.0.

Except that Suh has far more talent, and actually loves to play football and does so, hard, all the time. So if by Haynesworth 2.0 you mean Suh will be absolutely nothing like Haynesworth then, yeah, I guess you would get a 2.0.

Albert was a joke. Suh is a monster and shows it every year.

Now all that said it will depend on cost and I don't recall off the top of my head how old Suh will be. But if he's still young enough, is going to give you several solid years, then I definitely wouldn't have any issue with getting that big nasty DT in the middle of our D-line.

Well, unless you are actually Suh you have no idea what he wants and what goes through his mind.

2011- Ejected from game due to stomping on a player- similar activity to Haynesworth- and was suspended for two games.
2012- Fined for kicking Matt Schaub in the groin.
2013- Fined $100,000 for a low block in a game against the Vikings. Fined for a hit in a Browns game. Fined in a Bucs game for a throat slash gesture.

He can have all the talent in the world, but he is a punk and I would not want him anywhere near Dallas.

That's fine. I have no issue with other people not wanting him.

I'd take my chance on him because the only thing up there that I find to be a serious issue is the 2011 deal with the stomping.

The Schaub thing I have always thought was stupid because I don't buy, in the least, that he did it intentionally. That's a reputation thing and I pay those no attention.

The 2013 stuff is basically crap that happens all across the league now days because they're taking all the physical out of football that they possibly can. That throat slash thing is stupid as can be for something to be fined for.

If we overspend on Suh we are dumb. If there was one free agent that we should have could have gotten it was Jared Allen. I would spend top money for Allen to be here right now, not Suh.

Remember, the Cowboys apparently don't value the 1tech and won't invest in that position. High draft picks and big money aren't in the cards for the 1tech. So....no Suh for us.

jerry doesn't like paying DT or OG premium money . He thinks he can find capable fat guys late in the draft.

Or that he can spend three of the last four first rounders on offensive linemen, all of which look to be hallmarks and longtime starters in Dallas.

Troll a littttttle bit harder, chief.

the kid has super talent but seems to be a bit of a head case. gonna be curious what nfl gm's think about the risk/reward of this guy. he may find the market not as huge as he thinks. for the right kind of contract he could sure help this team but i sure would'nt throw a bunch of upfront money at him with the issues he has had

Yeah the guy is all about himself and getting paid, I think the Haynesworth comparison is valid except for the lazy part. He's also been suspended and fined multiple times as well, I can easily see him getting suspended again this year. I also agree what this team needs is DE's and Jared Allen would have definitely helped not sure how they expect to generate a pass rush this year.

and you think the refs will be as easy with him here as they were with him in Detroit? And the league? what are you smoking?

I'm not saying they would or wouldn't. I don't try and predict things of that nature. It's pointless to me.
