I'm Confused

The draft is not over.Don't getting hung up on sexy Mel Kiper pick names like John Moffit. You can get fantastic guards in rds 4-7 and through undrafted free agency. We picked up our stud LT of the future in RD 1. Chill out man, go with the flow.

I just hate seeing Dallas continuously throw away 2nd and 3rd round picks.

I wish they would just pretend like every round is the 4th.

Ok, totally off topic but every time you post I mean to ask it.

Who is that in your avatar?

she played lana lang on the TV show Smallville, can't think of her name....

Maybe they're both idiots when it comes to the draft.

This is Jenkins, Jones and Bennett deja vu all over again and will set this franchise back.

Let's draft great athletes without any drive, heart or guts.

To have this be the windfall for drafting in the top 10 is disappointing to say the least.

I'm not in the war room so I don't assign individual blame. I say as a whole, the cowboys whiffed on their 3rd rounder. I can live with Carter, but Murray :bang2:

Same here.

I'm ok with the Carter pick because people say he is without a doubt a top 20 guy pre injury plus I've never seen him play so I won't judge.

But I know exactly what we're getting with Murray and it wasn't worth a premium pick.

After the Tyron Smith pick it was clearly stated that Jason Garrett really did have control in this draft but after the DeMarco Murray pick Jerry is the idiot now in charge.

So is it when Dallas something person X agrees with Jason now has control but when Dallas does something person X disputes Jerry is pulling the strings.

I'm just trying to figure out how I can get my cake and eat it too.

Why bother asking the question? The *******s you're referring to will continue on with their agenda.

While were talking, can you help me come to grips with this pick? I can't get my hands around it.

I think JG had more to do with this pick than people think.

I remember in the Tyron Smith press conference he said (paraphrasing), "In the draft, you want guys who do a lot of what you do. On offense, you pass the ball quite a bit and Smith is really good in that area [pass protection]"

We're going to be passing a lot and I guess they really like what Murray brings as a receiver out of the backfield.

This is totally Garrett's pick. Barber is gone and Garrett obviously does not like Choice for whatever reason. I know we have greater needs on defense and if it was any other RB available I would be upset. But Murray has the potential to be a real game changer and can actually block. This pick has the potential to be very good though a little risky considering Murray's past injury issues and our other needs.

I don't like the Murray pick, given the needs the team still has on both lines and who was still available.

Whoever I have to blame for that, so be it.

jason looked happy as well with the DM pick

I think DM was 100% a Garrett pick. He's never been a fan of Choice, and he wanted a true down hill runner who can move the chains. Barber was as close to his "power back" as he had, and he wouldn't follow the holes because he kept bouncing.

I don't know why everyone is so surprised by this. Jerry pretty much spelled it out in neon lights last night in his press conference that they were looking for a running back, and the days leading up to the draft it was widely reported by media close to the team that they were looking for runningbacks. They brought DM in for a visit to the Ranch, and Goose listed him as a 3rd rounder, which is exactly where the Cowboys drafted him. It's not exactly out of the blue, here.

I don't think that's what he drafted Rosh. I hope we did but I have my doubts.

Then the question I have to ask is why has Garrett 'never been a fan of Choice'?

All the guy does is produce when given the chance.

I fail to see how spending a 3rd round pick on another running back makes sense.

And what does this say about using a first round pick on Felix Jones?

I don't think I can, I'm not the biggest fan of the pick.

I did say a few days ago Dallas would target a returner and this seems to be the guy they wanted. It will help keep Dez healthy.

He is also an excellent blocker and I know that's one thing Dallas loved about him. He is essentially the perfect 3rd down back. Someone you can trust to protect Romo and get out on a route when needed.

I had other idea's but I surely wont toss the whole season out over this one pick.

Probably because when you break down film Choice plays sloppy football and doesn't do the little things right. He's also a disaster on special teams.

There's no big surprise on Felix. He's a role back/homerun back who plays best in space. That's what you should have known about him from Day 1, and that's pretty much what the Cowboys said from Day 1. He was drafted to be Marion's compliment. Nothing has changed. Maybe if he goes back to a specialty role and get his weight back down, he'll regain his explosion and bring back the big plays he was making in 2009.

About spot on as you can get.

Well said.

I don't agree with this pick but I loved the first two picks. Not going to let it ruin the draft.

And who gives a flyin' fig about special teams?!?!?

Get a scrub to play 'em if you're not happy with Choice! Plenty of wasted linebacker picks to fill that role anyway. Maybe Barber would come close to earning his keep there?

Then the first-rounder used on him was a waste.

There were real running backs taken both before and after him.

More of a waste than the Fasano/Bennett picks.

At least there we only wasted second rounders.

So Garrett had no input on the Choice pick when it was made? The OL coach gets to practically make the call on our #9 overall but the offensive coordinator isn't consulted when we take a fourth round RB?

I personally don't think Choice is anything special, and I don't love his attitude, but you could make a great argument he's at least as good a player as Murray. At least he can run inside.

He might be the ONLY 3rd string RB in the league not to contribute on special teams. It creates roster issues and game day decisions that should not have to be made.
