I'm getting 2009 draft vibes from this draft

The TE Will become Dak’s best friend period, he blocks and catches the ball and tho ones will have now only does one of each. Great pick up there. Thought we would go OL pick there but not crying about pick because it was a big need.

I am not and this wasn't the son's draft as that one was purported to be.

I think this draft is indicative of what happens when you stay put and let it come to you and they start taking your players off the board. I think that really happened in the 2nd round and they just played it safe with a good solid TE that played on a team that wanted to run the ball. The top 3 RB's were gone before they could take one so that will have to come today.

This draft, so far, says stop the run and improve blocking for the run. The first two picks will defintely contribute this season because McC will want to run quite a bit of 1-2 personnel and the 2nd pick may be the best blocking TE.

I gotta say, after being one of those many voices crying in the wilderness "why not a DT in the 1st" for so many drafts, this was deemed a good draft by me after the 1st pick. This kid played at a high level anchoring a stout run D and played more plays per game that he will ever play in the NFL.

We have had 1st round picks that felt they were not wanted, Yosemite comes to mind, but this #1 pick gets the open arms treatment from so many fans that have been waiting for this kind of pick. Mazi Smith makes the other DL on that line better.

Not even close. Cowboys want to win the trenches. They seriously addressed it too. There is a lot to be excited about. Stopping the run. Improving run offense. Really like this draft.

Exactly, and when is the last time the Cowboys were this focused on trenches on both sides of the ball?

But the front office seems to be drafting with the exact same mindset from 09

I’m happy with the picks but they all felt like reaches for need or a last second scramble pick cause the guy they really wanted was just taken…

I’m not at all happy with the picks. I think they were all reached and I don’t see how any of them contribute right away. I don’t even think Mazi is a good player. His tape looks like Bohanna. This is def the worst draft since 2009 IMO.

This makes no sense to me. Clearly the Cowboys run stopping is improved. Clearly the Cowboys run blocking is improved. And Overshown will be beast.

Seems like they bought into the whole worst run defense in football stuff you see here
Spending a first round pick in a guy who didn’t manage a single sack in 30 games sets the tone for a bad weekend

The Cowboys didn't even have a first or second round pick in 2009. The majority of picks came in rounds 5-7. This isn't the same at all.
