I'm happy Vinny Testaverde was a Cowboy.

After Parcells comments today, we got a little more insight to the benefits brought by Vinny in his year here. Granted 6-10 on the field won't make any one go crazy. As a player, Vinny was running on fumes at age 41.

The lasting legacy he may leave was in his mentoring of Tony Romo (I think Vinny may be a great QB coach if he so desired) In terms of game preparation and just what it takes to be a quarterback in this league. Romo certainly would not have received the same quality of mentoring from Quincy (much due to Vinny's vast experience in the league.) I heard about Vinny's unselfish tutoring of Chad Pennington even after he was benched in the middle of the 2002 season. I think he played the same role here

I know Vinny's not the most popular guy here, but he served his purpose, albeit in a way not readily visible to most of us fans.

Thank you, Vinny.
You're a NY Rangers fan in Hawaii?? I'm an NYR fan 30 years. How'd that happen for ya?

I got a Messier jersey the same year (93-94) when they made their historic Cup run. I was 11 years old. The rest is history. I'm actually thinking of buying the dvd set that commemorates their championship that year

Vinni sucked.

Coming from a guy with a QC "chosen one" pic in his sig... that's good comedy.

I still do follow them it's been a rought start to the season so far (although I'm happy they beat a really good Anaheim team today)

Mostly in Hawaii we get Ducks or Kings games plus whatever VERSUS or NBC shows. So, getting Rangers games has been a bit more of a challenge since ESPN no longer carries NHL games. I'm gonna look into getting the Center Ice package though.

I never said Vinny played great and that's not what this thread is about. But QC should have never even suited up in the NFL.

Vinny never had the weapons that Bledsoe had. We traded Galloway and Bryant for Keyshawn and Morgan. Glenn went down early that year and Jones was injured for half of the season.

I'd say he done ok with what he had to work with. He made Witten a household name, same could be said for Crayton. 2 names that hardly got mentioned while Bledsoe was behind center.

Late in the year when JJ came back and the team has some life Vinny was ok, mostly. But the fact was at his age his legs were dead by the 3rd qtr and that affected his passing and everything else. remember we did make a push for the playoffs late. As has been pointed out, no nothing fans blamed him for Henson not playing; when it is clear now that Henson just did not have it.
Vinny was the best we could get at that time; and he gave it all he had. Sad fact was that by then he had little left to give.
And he DID work hard to try and teach both Henson and Romo as much as he could; Romo seems to think it made a big difference and so does BP. Thats enough for me to say thank you Vinny.
