And that sucks! Been the most diehard fan of the Cowboys and the NFL in general for almost 45 years now. The excitement just isnt there anymore, at least not like it was. Nothing the Cowboys really did either, more just the state of the league. Free agency and the cap REALLY hurt the game worse than any of some of the younger fans will ever know. It takes years to build a championship caliber team, and one offseason to tear it down because you cant get under the cap.

So lemme get this straight.......You spend a few years really knocking it out of the park come draft day, really doing it right,....and your reward for doing a great job is to sit back and watch half your players leave because you cant pay all the big name players you were smart enuff to draft and groom and still be under the cap. REALLY? By the same token,.... you spend years drafting a bunch of worthless BUMS and your reward is having plenty of money to sign as many talented players as you want away from the teams who were proficient at their job. REALLY? The NFL is actually penalizing excellence and rewarding failure......... NOT GOOD.

Other thing is all the rule changes. D.B's are pretty much defenseless nowadays. You touch someone....... penalty. All to promote passing. The game doesnt even resemble the great game I grew up loving.

Goodell and his crap and unfair treatment of our team. Its just too much anymore.

Players SOOOO STUPID that they cant stop stepping on their own johnsons and getting suspended all the time. Its just on and on and on.

I'll always be a big fan,... but it will NEVER be what it once was. Real shame too.

Never thought I'd be saying this, but me too.

This last season took a toll on my love for the game. I'm hoping it was just an anomaly given all the circumstances that occurred last year with Dallas and the NFL in general.

I agree. I still love the game. High School, College and Pros and still an avid fan of the Cowboys but the pro game is not the same in large part because of owners and unions. I opposed FA and the cap when it was put in place and still do not like it.

Hayseed how old are you? I am 66 and have been a lifelong Cowboys fan. I live in Conroe and the wife and I would go to at least one home game a year. Like you my passion for the game is declining. We probably will not go to a game this year. Part of that decision is my age and part of it is the mediocrity our team displays at times. Go Cowboys

I'll be 54 in two weeks. STILL act like a kid in a lot of ways though...LOL Like I say,... still love the team and the game. Its just not like it was is all. Im more of a sports purist,... hate it when they change the rules so much that it erodes the spirit of the game over time.

Take a deep breath...as most of us feel the same, worn out way. The league has gone out of it's way to develop their own privileges. Anyone who is a real fan and stuck it out a while, just knows that is true.

But after you take that breath, let's just settle back in and root for that team that we deeply love. As they say, you just can't keep a good man down. Same with our Cowboys. I've been around since '60...but pick myself off the ground, dust off, and keep on rooting!

GO COWBOYS!:starspin:

I feel much less enthusiastic about this season than I have been for a long time. I guess I am just beat down of all the high expectations of "this is the year, we are on the verge of doing it". Just too be let down again.
If we had a new HC I may be excited to see what comes of it, but with all the other changes and lip service of scheme changes, player changes, we still have the same main problem.

and that is why I just can't get into it like I used to. Now once TC starts, and the season draws near, I may get some of that back. But right now I just do not have in me.

after half way through last season and the Zeke BS fro the NFL, the screw ups from the coaching staff, and after the season ended.
I told myself I will not buy into the BS hype this team will trot out there. Not t-shirt slogans, not the crap sayings about secret sauce, war daddy, wow players, all crap. Not buying into it this year.

Show me on the field, not talk about it.

I'll mail you a post card Jazzy!
Cuz' we are on that brink of the edge in '18',,,buddy!;)

I didn’t make changes...nor are there any young people on the competition that makes the changes. In fact it’s full of a bunch of 50+ year old football lifers. But obviously your opinion is more important

Well there you go, have to say something sarcastic about my opinion and make it personal. That is uncalled for.
Shows me your immaturity.

As for the 50+ football guys, it just shows they are senile in some of there thinking, and they are bowing down to external PC pressure ...there, that is my opinion not that it is important....

I am about your age. Can name ya the starting offensive line of the 72 Super Bowl team. Been through alot including 5 championships. Nothing is ever as great as teams in your youth but I still enjoy the day to day of Cowboys football in the present. I don't know every player on every team the way I used to but I still get a lot of enjoyment (and disappointment) out of the game. Hang in there, buddy, when we are on a Super Bowl run this year, you'll be right back in it!!
Only way we'll see another super bowl if if the Jones family hires a new coach+staff and most importantly let them run the football team. The Jones fam needs to stay in their lane, running a business.

Hate when old people cry because things aren’t the exact same as “back in my day”....the league is fine and no one is out to get the cowboys.
I am assuming based on your comment that you are not "old people", but one day, you will be crying about the way things were back in your day.

I’ve been losing interest in the nfl more and more the past few seasons. I used to watch every game available now I just watch cowboys games and I’m not the die hard I used to be.

Teams have so much invested in players now that they wont let them play through even smaller injuries. I remember back in around 1980 or so Watching Joe Ferguson QB the Bills in a playoff game.......... WITH A BROKEN LEG. LOL

Witten played with a lacerated spleen and a broken jaw. Romo played with torn rib cartilage. Russell Wilson played with a high ankle sprain and 2 weeks later an MCL sprain in 2016.

Every NFL player has some "smaller injury" every year, just because they don't reveal it doesn't mean it's not there....

It is a shame but it is what it is. I'm still standing and cheering after after 30 plus years of being a fan. I won't let any player, HC, GM or rule changes stand in the way. If I did I'd be a fair weather fan. As it stands I farm and accept the weather. She can be a giver or a beeotch. Know what I'm sayin. Accept what you can't control

There's gonna be a huge heads up this year with that soon to be implemented " leading with the head on contact rule",,,SHEESE,,, that's just another subjective & selective form of dictating the games outcomes thru yellow flags flying,,,if I've evolved my understanding along with this League in it's transformation of politically correct butt cancer it's been pounded with,,,,yer' gonna HATE the officiating this year,,,more so than last yearso_O

..yup, know what you mean. I think the new Media Consciousness has ruined the game. They have advocated Dr's, specialist in genres, politics ..etc to all chime in to make it better or safer. I understand that, but all in destroying the spirit of the game of tackle football. Money is now the new God that the NFL stands for. Mr. Gordy (goodell), has made sure of that.
