I'm not all that pessimistic

Brad Johnson had a 50.5 passer rating in 2008. Weeden has delivered a 108 rating so far. I remember the feelings of hopelessness when Brad was out there but I don't feel that with Weeden. Additions on defense plus a possible return by Dez, it isn't implausible to see Dallas as winning 2 from NE, NYG, Seattle and Philly. I think they can beat Tampa. 5-4 or 4-5 and the team is primed to make a run for the division, because with Romo we can go on a 6-1 or 7-0 run to finish the regular season.

I just don't see the situations as that similar.

Thanks for the clarification on %. Understood and appreciated as such.

My feeling is I don't get the same comfort of Danny White replacing Staubach, or Steve Berlein replacing Troy Aikman. Weeden , is getting better, and hopefully our D will improve. Regarding Dez and Tony, they will add but also they will be coming back from injuries that could
cause them to not be at the same peak efficiency we would normally see at that point in a season.

There is that concern with Dez. I don't have that concern with Tony. Tony will just find a way to make it work. One thing I think he does that Weeden doesn't do as well is set our protections at the line. Improved Oline play, and a less than efficient Dez is still better than what we are getting out a guy like Street for example.

Best case scenario, we'll still have to play at least these games without Romo.

vs Patriots
@Giants
vs Seahawks
vs Eagles
@ Bucs

It's not over yet, but they must win the division games, particularly @ the Giants. I look at the Giants schedule, and I think they'll win 9-10 games. I think being 4-5 by the time Romo gets back is about the best we can hope for...

@ Dolphins
vs Panthers
@ Commanders
@ Packers
vs Jets
@ Bills
vs Commanders

We really need Romo to be 100% in time for the Miami and Carolina games! The Cowboys are capable of losing every game without Romo, but they're also capable of winning their last 7 games once he returns. There's still hope, but man this sucks, because when healthy, we're so much better than the other teams in our division.

Time to shock the world and dismantle the Patriots!

Yeah, it just makes this next few weeks of football difficult to get excited about. It's rough when you really have nothing to look forward to. Running out of people to even pretend might be able to make a play on offense right now.

I wouldn't give up so easily. This is the NFL. We won only 1 game in Aikmans rookie year and it was against an undefeated Commanders team. Who thought the Giants were going to beat the Bills yesterday? In this league, anything can happen.

That's true. Anything can happen. I'm just going off of what I think is likely to happen. In the short term. But we'll win some games in this stretch at some point.

I only see two possible victories ahead. Philly and Tampa.

I don't think the second half of our schedule is particuarly easy. Carolina and GB are both 4-0, and a bunch of divisional opponents that always play us hard. Not a cake walk even with Romo.

Romo makes everyone look much better than they actually are. He covers up for a lot of sins.

The past two weeks are just another reminder.

Should be fun post Romo.

Bottom line, without Romo, this team will be lucky to win a game.

Weeden hasn't played poorly, yes he has made some mistakes but what QB doesn't. Not having Dez is killing us AND we should never have let Murray go.

Buffalo was without Sammy Watkins and McCoy so NY beating Buffalo was predictable.

I'm not giving up yet and frankly the pessimism was ticking me off in the game thread. I don't know what everyone was expecting, but come on....hopefully next week and the long bye doesn't do me in...

Most were expecting, at the very least, half-competent athletes.

Dallas has dude that don't even have field awareness.

Guys that can't catch a ball that hits them in the chest on BOTH sides of the ball.

And Weeden.

My God. I've literally seen pee we leagues look better.

All I know is............ I'm real happy with my decision to get a Dan Bailey jersey.

It could be worse, at last we are not the Eagles who have all their starters and still suck. We know the Cowboys get better very soon...

Just curious, what news have you heard about Dez coming back so soon?

Stephen Jones said something to that effect on a radio show this morning. I don't believe he said it was a certainty, just a good possibility.

The thing is that I have zero confidence in the players staying healthy once they return.
