I'm so sick of hearing about our great offense

I actually said "one TD below,"

since we averaged 19 points and the league average was 19.1 points against playoff teams, would that be 1 TD below?

And yeah, there's more than a bit of a discrepancy when you're the #5 offense in the league, but 12-15 other teams are scoring more points than you against the good teams.

true, true

I actually said "one TD below," but I was only talking about the league average among playoff teams anyway. What the Browns averaged against playoff teams doesn't mean a whole lot.

Give me a couple of minutes and I'll pull the AFC stats too...

Colts- 28.6 ppg
Ravens- 23.67 ppg
Chiefs- 21 ppg
Chargers- 20 ppg
Patriots- 18.75 ppg
Jets- 15.5 ppg

I was only talking about 12 teams (league average among playoff teams), not 32 (league average).

Adam supplied that average already, 19.1

Man, I'm glad you did that.

3 of the 4 teams that averaged 20 or less in regular season games against teams that would later make the playoffs, didn't make it past the first round.

6 of the 7 that averaged 23 or more were still around for the 2nd round of the playoffs, and 5 of the 7 won at least one playoff game.

Average PPG against Playoff teams:

Playoff teams: 23.24
Dallas Cowboys: 19.14
League Average: 19.1

That might still be top 10. If you take out the second Eagles game, which was by all means a fluke, our average raises up to over 21 PPG. I'd say those are pretty good numbers for a team with a HC that is notorious for "ball control."

If you take out that game, then you need to take out the Jets game where they scored 0 (that will raise their average), the Chiefs game where they scored 13 (or something like that), etc.

If you pull the low score on us, you should do the same to all.....

And we'll still be at the bottom/near the bottom.

We're not at the bottom before you take it out, why would be at the bottom after?

I don't get how you can call that game a fluke.

It was typical of Dallas' performances in rematches against winning teams throughout the Parcells era. We went 0-9 in those games, and only managed to score more than one offensive TD in one of those games (vs. Saints last year). That's 0-9 over 4 seasons, but it's consistent with last season.

against playoff teams
We end up 10th (out of 12 playoff teams) in scoring, and somewhere around 12th to 15th (I'm guessing) among all 32 teams. In any case, it isn't anywhere near the 4th in the NFL that we ranked in scoring against the league.
