Yep, some just like to settle for second place. Being the bridesmaid.

I would rather have a QB play "okay" during the regular season but turn it up a notch in the playoffs.

Without more Playoff victories, or a Super bowl win, his win/loss record doesn't mean jack.

How many playoff games did Aikman win once his supporting cast started leaving? Oh yea, NONE!

This team needs to get better as a whole. I'm betting without Romo we wouldn't have been in three of these games this season.

As much grief as I've given Romo in the past, I still think he gives this team the best chance to win. I think he just needs to be able to stay focused on a game plan.

About his 3rd INT (near Witten), Romo said, “I just didn’t get enough on the throw. ... I thought it was going to be a big play for us, honestly. It’s disappointing because I thought he was coming open past all the linebackers and there’s no safety help to that side. I wish I could have that throw back and just throw it further.”

Tony needs to know the situation. 4:22 left. 1st & 10 @DAL20. You don't NEED a big play there. Yes, a big play moves the ball and eats clock, but you can eat clock without having to have that big play right then and there.

Tony was looking at/for Witten the whole time on that play. If he rolls or looks to his right, he has ?Phillips I think? in the flat, easy, safe throw, picks up 3-4yds but most importantly, keeps the clock rolling; unless it's an absolutely horrible throw, the pass goes nowhere near a defender.

Worst case, you don't move the ball, you give your very good punter a shot to push them back and give the defense a chance to make a play...like last week. It's was just about as boneheaded a play as Felix ducking out of bounds short of the 1st down marker b/c he obviously wasn't aware that it was 4th down.

That's the most frustrating part about this with Romo. It's not like he had an all-around bad game... it's 1 or 2 or 3 poor decisions. It's not a major flaw in his mechanics, it's not bad blocking, it's not a lot of things...just poor decisions.

I'm still trying to figure out why all of these "fans" don't just pick another team.

That's a dumb statement honestly... I support the team more than a baffling QB.

I care more about what's best for the franchise.

Exactly.

It's a cheap tactic driven by bunk logic.

So as "real fans" are we supposed to take our wallops, say 'thank you' and 'more please?'

I'll always give this team my support, but that doesn't mean you have to hand them over your brain and conduct yourself like sheep.

Yeah, I thought being a true fan means being more critical of the team you support.

I don't care whether Eli Manning or Michael Vick or Donovan McNabb stink up the joint. I'm not emotionally invested in their demise. I am when Romo is quarterback of my favorite team.

And as a fan, that "entitles" us to be super critical because we want to win, not only when we come from behind but when we're comfortably in the lead.

Too many posters here equate criticism of a player as criticism of the team. It's not the same. In fact, it's not even in the same universe.

BBbllaaaaa, bbbllaaaa, bbbllaaaa*

* Translated from sheep = You're a bandwagon jumper if you don't praise Romo's three interceptions as anything but an effort to continue attacking the Lions defense. ;)

But on the flip side, if you support the qb of the team you care nothing of the teams success right? It's been pointed out many times in this thread.

I support tony and want him to do well because we are only going to go as far as he takes us.we don't have have anyone else on this team that can take over a game.

You're not a true fan............j/k.

Take it a step further, some posters around here equate criticism of a player/team as hate. It would be scary cultish if it wasn't so downright comical.

To me, it's not about believing in him or not. He's the Cowboys quarterback, and they aren't making a change.

So why get all upset about it? I don't have any power to change it.

I blame Garrett more because he's supposed to protect his quarterback via his play-calling, especially if he has shown a propensity to make bonehead turnovers when we're leading or trying to close out a game.

You call running plays, call safe pass plays, then punt the ball and rely on your defense.

Unless we're going to replace Romo, and we're not, then Garrett has to do a better job of taking the game out of Tony Romo's hands when we get a lead, and a comfortable lead. I mean how many more times do we have to see him choke a game away before we're convinced he needs to be better managed?

Yes! All true.
I wish I had written this post.

That is why, when, there were seconds left in the 49ers game, and the Cowboys were in the red zone fixing to score, I was praying that we'd just kick the dam field goal and keep the ball away from Romo. To me, that was begging Romo to do something . . . creative and ultimately something that would backfire.

There is nothing wrong with protecting a lead. To have Romo firing away like he was behind was a mistake. The coaches have to work within Romo's strengths, but being under pressure is not one of Romo's strengths.
Coaches, work with Romo. Teach him to hand off instead of firing blindly into double coverage or firing blindly and short into single.
Give Romo some cooling-down, calm play-calling. Or kiss the season goodbye.

Just jotting this one down for my Excuse list.

Romo has HAD a good supporting cast, yet nothing.

But, don't see the big picture ahead and think just like Jerry did with Aikman, and not getting prepared to replace him when the time comes. Go ahead and have that blind eye. When, in 3 yrs, if Romo is still around, we will be having this SAME conversation again.

Romo is the QB of this team, best on the roster. While, I hope he isn't around next season, for this season, I will still support him. I will never trust him with a game on the line.

There is only one player that has ever been on the Cowboys that I would never support. ONE. doesn't mean I want them around for long.

If "you support the qb of the team you care nothing of the teams success...?"

I'm sorry, maybe you edited your post and left something out, but that makes no sense to me.

I'm at a crossroads with whether I think Tony Romo is the right QB for this franchise longterm. However, that doesn't mean come Sunday that I'm rooting against him or hoping he fails. I support every player on this team because they are all contributing factors in reaching my bottomline: Seeing the Cowboys win

Thus, every Cowboys player has my support. That doesn't mean they are immune to criticism.

Doesn't that sort of scuttle your argument that this is a team game, Cap'in?

I think Romo is an exciting QB that has alot of talent and earned
being the leader. The one thing i can't get out of my head is *** was the
coaching all about. With this lead it should have been grinding the ball as
to take as much time off the clock.

Yep, we should have been playing to run out the last 26 minutes of the clock. What a great strategy!

Now, back to earth. In order to run down THAT MUCH CLOCK, you have to string together drives, not just keep handing off until you stall and punt.

Didn't Tom Brady throw four picks and choke away a 17 pt lead just last week?

Tom Brady is proven in pressure situations. He's played in 4 SBs, won 3. MVP twice.

Do you understand the difference? Romo crumbles in high pressure situations. You cannot compare a bad day for Brady to a years-long pattern of losing when it counts.

Romo is damaged goods now. We need to plan for the future.

I agree. I did not have as much of an issue with the plays as some others. These were not trick plays they were running but like any play if not executed you can get burned. I don't think running 3 plays then punting ensures anything.

Especially with 26 minutes left and playing a team averaging over 30 points per game.
