Don't let a game bring you down. These franchises aren't paying you, and people often become overly invested in teams, sometimes to the point of aggression, as if it's a matter of faith.

All professional sports, with billions involved, can seem manipulated. Corporations aim to maximize profits, not leave things to chance. They do whatever it takes to ensure success the following year.

The NFL, notably, can be susceptible to manipulation due to referee influence. On every down numerous penalties occur during plays on both sides of the ball, and refs decide what to call, impacting momentum. Holding penalties alone can be game-changers, not to mention the subjective nature of pass interference calls.

Consider the precision of Vegas betting spreads and game outcomes. It raises questions about how odds makers consistently predict results with such accuracy.

Take last week's 49ers vs. Rams game; a seemingly pointless field goal had significance for Vegas. Such instances occur often, but many prefer not to acknowledge the potential flaws in their beloved sports.

You can still enjoy sports responsibly. Despite the suspicion of rigging, I watch the Cowboys on Sundays as an excuse to spend time with loved ones, which can be a rare opportunity due to my busy work schedule.

I understand that, and I definitely can appreciate that. I don't know if the league is rigged or not, but it has been maddening seeing what happens. Especially with how poor the refs were yesterday. I must say, I'm having to try to stay positive about the team, while also trying to withdraw the intensity to which I watch the games.

rewatch the game. The backup Oline guys did NOT play well overall. Chuma in particular was terrible.
Well even the starters dont play well overall sometimes.
what about specifics, like pass blocking run blocking etc? they did good on that screen to dowdle for a td, and that is something the starters
had not done in 40 games.

I also see flaws in player utilization, right now dowdle seems to be the stronger runner, yet pollard still gets the bulk of carries.
Lipke has been good yet only gets uses once or twice a game. Duece wasnt used at all lol. There are some wr going unused just so lamb
gets a bunch of targets, then gallup. cooks only got 1.

I am thinking refs are also used to keep games close sometimes because goodell thinks close games are good for nfl. He has bragged about that.

Stephen A still laughing at overly optimistic Cowboys fans, raising expectations quickly after winning the NJ Bowl against the NY teams.

Come on, man...we should ALL stop having such high hope, not with McCarthy leading us. Dak + McCarthy never seemed to be a dominant offensive formula, and since the defense is still soft and can't own the LOS, the defense can't dominate either (and Diggs was going to get exposed as well, he wasn't going to save this team from being soft up the middle). So, this was all destined to resort to the mean at some point, the Cards simply exposed the Cowboys...outplayed AND outcoached (Quinn beat by a rookie backup QB), and McCarthy and Dak can't score on the Cardinals.

They better bounce back fast, or the Niners will take whatever's remaining of the Cowboys' confidence in a few weeks.

The Eagles and the Niners are still the best 2 teams in the East...we just have to admit that, until the Cowboys beat one or both of them. They can, I think...

I know it's just a game. I didn't expect us to go undefeated. However, I'm finding myself taking this loss harder than usual. I know I shouldn't, but this loss hurt. I'm always going to be a Cowboys fan. I enjoy this forum. I will never be a fan of an NFL team other than the Cowboys. I want to make that crystal clear, and that's not changing with this loss. Let me just explain what's on my psyche. If nothing else, this is a chance for me to just write my thoughts as it's better at times to write out my frustrations than keep them inside of me. So, please, do not take this as me quitting or anything. I'm simply putting my thoughts to paper, if you will. I'll be watching the game against the Patriots next week, and the following game and so on. I'm just struggling with this defeat.

To start with, I'm 30. I haven't seen the success many of you have. So, when I saw our defence playing like it did in the first two weeks, I got a bit more excited than usual. Of course, I know the Cowboys will likely blow it at some point. Only one team can win the SB, after all. Plus, I've never seen us even make the NFCC. So, all I know is us blowing it at some point in the season, and the wheels falling off. But, I couldn't help but think that this might be a special year. It still might be. It's only one game. That said, this looked like a better team than I'm used to seeing from the Cowboys.

Then, the injuries started popping up this week. I understand. It's the NFL. It's hard to go against another NFL team when you're down as many players as we were today. It's just, why is it every time something looks to be going our way for once, something disastrous always seems to happen? At first, I saw reports we'd be down a few linemen. That's okay, I thought, we have a great offense. What I didn't expect was that we'd practically be down everyone on that unit but Steele and I think Tyler Smith. Then came the worst of it. The Diggs injury. I was posting in hope that maybe we could mitigate that. And maybe we still will, but it certainly took some wind out of my sails for this week.

Then there's the fact that we were playing the Cardinals. I've been a fan since either 1999 or 2000 (not really sure which year). Very rarely have I seen us beat the Cardinals. Especially in Arizona. I don't understand it. Why is it that we so rarely seem to beat Arizona? This might be the one win they get this year, and it's always us, it seems, that gets embarrassed by teams like the Cardinals.

Finally, the refs were horrible! Absolutely disgraceful. We did no favours by committing the penalties we did, but it was so unevenly officiated. There were at least 3 PIs in the end zone that the refs never called. Those were at least 3 possible TDs taken off the board. Then the hold in the end zone that they said was at the 1. The amount of times Micah was getting held. All in all, I felt the refs were horrible.

All in all, I'm absolutely reeling from this defeat ATM. I know I shouldn't be. I know it's only a game, and I've seen plenty of losses from the Cowboys. It's just more difficult this game because I thought we were a much better team than we seem to be today. Hopefully, everyone will be healthier next game. I know Diggs is out, but hopefully, we can have a full compliment of oline players next game. Hopefully, we can actually score a touchdown in the Red zone. Hopefully, we can beat the Patriots.
Oh, stay genuine. To be a fan, ride it out in that mode. Don't allow appreciation to ride far from actual attempt to play the game for us fans and pride. We both can share pride at what ever product level.

Next, momentum is a very strong element in games. Fall far off and change reactions of schemes...they get tougher.

The Cardinals, if to play later in the season, would find a very much tougher and physical play by that same group of Cowboys they took the advantage upon this past Sunday. Bumps in momentum are harder to over come. They often insert more hurdles as motivations are changed from what is expected and affects reactions. Coaches can suddenly change playing character to adjust to and handle altered reaction senses and reactions. That comes with time.

Many fans toss age old whipping boy excuses onto teams that have 30 new players each and every season. It is nothing more than an ignorant bias to satisfy their want all convenience. Naw, enjoy the game and root for the best. Knowing the real truth helps, as well as improving the feelings going on with developing spirit and team play. That is the real deal, at final analysis.

I've already lost 90% of the people on site, because I didn't just use stats that did show progress or cause clarity. That group actually prefers a positive point just to throw it right back at you. Discussions to them are no more than a waiting period filled with disappointment to be given to anything less than pure dominance.

One hears very little supportive backing beyond didn't the team just kick butt. Strength in a victory is what accumulates and in football, that still has to grow.

(Just share what one sees that was good. Then you don't have to defend a wikipedia on the very top of achievements. You have enjoyment of the sport, but don't lie about anything.)

Wikipedia on Dak Prescott

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dak_Prescott

2022 season

In Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Prescott struggled, completing 14 of 29 passes for 134 yards and an interception before leaving the game in the fourth quarter with a right thumb injury in the 19–3 loss.[162] Later, it was announced Prescott will miss 6-8 weeks with the thumb injury.[163] Prescott returned in Week 7 against the Detroit Lions, where he threw 207 yards and a touchdown in the 24–6 win.[164] Prescott finished the season with 2,860 passing yards, 66.2% passing completion, 23 touchdowns, and a season-high of 15 interceptions in 12 games.[165][166]

In the Wild Card Round, Prescott completed 25 of 33 passes for 305 yards, four passing touchdowns, and rushed for a touchdown as the Cowboys defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31−14.[167]

In the Divisional Round, Prescott threw for 206 yards and one touchdown but threw two interceptions as the Cowboys would lose 12−19 against the San Francisco 49ers.[168] He won the 2022 NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year.[169]

Instead of acknowledging any success in that season, it is used as an insult to Jerry Jones, Mike McCarthy, and Dak Prescott...which really is no more than an insult and is used to disrespect a supporting fan.

I won't bend an inch in my support...hope that helps as well.

Yes, momentum is key, and it just wasn't our day on Sunday. Hopefully, this upcoming Sunday against the Pats will be our day again.

I mean, I agree that maybe we shouldn't expect a SB every year as only one team can win it every year, but every fan wants one for their team every year.

Great post brother, and I feel for you. I'm 46, I've at least experienced glory, even though I would saver it so much more today. My partner on the medic unit at work is your age and die hard. I feel terrible for him sometimes. Yall are as loyal as they come. Eventually the team has to reward that loyalty right?

This loss was particularly painful, because it was a reality check. I dont believe it forecasts the future of our season, but.....it showed us the defense isn't ready to be considered elite. It also opened up concerns with everything from coaching to the qb in the new system. It was a total systemic failure. It's very frustrating watching these guys anoint themselves only to fall flat. I dont know if it's because of the media exposure or what exactly, but we ALWAYS eat the cheese.

All said we need to slow down and let the season develop. It's pointless predicting anything until December at the earliest. Adjustments will be made league wide, teams will respond to those adjustments, players will be up and down and everything will remain in flux. The key is to be playing our best football come playoff time.

I think we've talked about this before. I've said nothing gets a team more motivated than the fear of being embarrassed. We took the Giants by surprise, but you had to know Arizona were not going to let us embarrass them at home. We were getting their best game. We had 3 OL out and not playing at their intensity level. Clearly.

I forget who made this quote, but I think it applies to any pro sport. "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard". The 90s Cowboys team lost to a 3-6 Rams team at home. Another good Cowboys team almost lost to an 0-8 Bengals team. This stuff happens. It's because you have super motivated players not wanting to be embarrassed, going up against players not very motivated going up against a crap team. I wouldn't get too discouraged. I'd be more discouraged if we lost to a better team.

For me it's not really the loss. Or any loss. Some time ago I started to accept that this is part of being a Cowboys fan and probably ever will be. I have my memories from those 3 Superbowls in the 90s. They were even sweeter as I was in my teens back then, which is always the best time to experience all this.

What's really irritating though are the homers. I don't get how some people just hold this team and especially some individuals to high even though they have done nothing to warrant that kind of support. Yes we are Cowboys fans, but that doesn't mean we can't be critical about players, coaches or owners. I mean they are professionals, they don't care anyway. Just call them out for what they are, if they are pretenders. And don't tell other fans to leave or go follow another team when they're frustrated with how things go in Cowboy land.

So as far as the Cowboys go, let's see how that game against NE develops. A win, no matter how nasty, is a win and puts us right back on track. Another loss and the sh!tstorm will start again or get worse, and deservedly so.

Or at least it shows our defence that they can't get complacent. Anyone can beat them. Every unit has a rough outing. It happens. It's the NFL. The question is, will they learn from it and adjust?
