Imagine if Pickens was "Holding in."

We dont know what was said behind the scenes. Jerry or Stephen could have went to George and just said flat out. WE WILL NOT do a long term deal. Wea re tagging you and that is that.

Maybe the agent learned from last season and he believed them.
He isnt playing for Chump change, and Im sure Pickens isnt minding that kind of cash.

2026 Cash Earnings Ranking (Wide Receivers)

When looking strictly at guaranteed payout for the 2026 season:

  1. Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Seattle Seahawks) – $36.5M
  2. Ja'Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals) – $33.83M
  3. Alec Pierce (Indianapolis Colts) – $30.0M
  4. A.J. Brown (Philadelphia Eagles) – $29.0M
  5. Amon-Ra St. Brown (Detroit Lions) – $28.11M
  6. George Pickens (Dallas Cowboys) – $27.3M
  7. Brandon Aiyuk (San Francisco 49ers) – $27.0M
  8. CeeDee Lamb (Dallas Cowboys) – $26.0M
  9. Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings) – $25.75M
  10. D.K. Metcalf (Pittsburgh Steelers) – $25.0M
I think Chris Olive just signed a big contract with the Saints. Puts him in the top 10.

All of you that slam this team all the time over contracts, why do they wait and the price goes up..... yadadadada. Did you even notice that Gibbs and Bijan or "Holding in?" See what happens when you have top players at a position?

Amazing how all of the sudden the big boy from the bucs has a bad back and is demanding to be traded. What is up with this? I thought it weas only Dallas that screwed these contracts up?
I don't know how many fan bases love their team's front office, outside of those that have been to Super Bowls the last few years. Ours is particularly critical looking back on results the last few decades but holdouts and threats are just part of this business.

After the whole hold in drama with Parsons, I think if the player isn't fully here participating, it's better for them to just holdout, lol.

To screw a contract up happens on every team, every year. Players hold ins/hold out, happen on every team, every year. Fans of every team complain about the same thing in each and every forum of every Sport made to man. To answer your question as to why we do? Well, it's a Dallas Cowboys forum, so it kind of goes with the territory. And guess what? The big guy in Tampa will have his situation work out, as will the situation with Bijon and Gibbs. The Lions had a window of opportunity to win before the $$$ hit the fan, and they failed and are now faced with having to pony up

Oh PLEASE , PLEASE, PLEASE show me the links to these interviews of Jerry admitting to all of what you posted above. The interview exists, but it NEVER said Jerry admitted to fabricating a story about the video or making up the video. Big difference.

But here is the most important thing to go by. Let’s assume every word that you posted was true. Dez absolutely was done dirty. Now Dez is no longer a player in the league..... you do know Dez goes to the games and sits with Jerry Jones, yes? So you are telling me, that a brash, cocky person like Dez, who had some JR Ewing kind of crap pulled on him would then go and sit next to Jerry in his box and watch a game and still be loyal to the Cowboys? You are kidding, right?

Let me find the sworn court testimony of him admitting not only this story but thst he is the father of Alexandra Davis, that he assaulted a woman in a hotel in 2014, that he did, in fact, cover up Dalrymple taking pictures of naked cheerleaders and that he never actually went “all in”.

As to Dez, it’s his own interview where he talks about it. Most recently he called Jerry out during the Micah debacle after Jerry referenced Dez and his agents as the reason he won’t talk to agents.

"I don't think it's smart to mention my name. I kept quiet about a lot of unfair ****“

He doesn’t just go full nuclear because his digital brand, tech ventures and entire media presence are tied to the Cowboys.

Choose to believe the carnival barker and conman if you like, but it’s not a good look.

Ther entire story is well trod and well known ground.

Jerry has a 30 plus year history when it comes to negotiating in bad faith.

Emmitt, Dez, Zeke, CeeDee, Dak and Micah all know it.

The media knows it

Jerry knows it.

The only people who don’t know it are Jerry apologists

NO WAY.
Just amazing why Dallas fans want to trade away one of the top players. Not only for ?Dallas, but maybe the NFL.
You must not have been paying attention the last decade or so. If you were you would see a demonstrated history of Jerry and Cap Boy screwing up contract negotiations. You would also have seen that I am on the record as saying they should have signed Pickens last year. They didn't and they likely won't so do you let him walk for nothing? There is next to no chance he plays under the tag next year.

Say Dallas is 4-6 at the trade deadline. You trade Pickens. You have to trade him. I mean you really have to trade the guy. A trade in lieu of screwing up the contract is the only way. Trading Pickens at the deadline if the team is out of it makes sense. A smart GM would have to consider a trade. I really really really think a trade has to be discussed.
What would a team give up for Pickens 8 games and knowing he’s a few months away from free agency? If they covet him and could sign him to a long term contract they might part with significant assets for him. That is not the case now, nor will it be at the trade deadline.

If Pickens gets hurt he’s lost out on 100 million…..

Jerry's asset management is always putrid. I don't disagree with you at all. They won't get anywhere close to value. His cost might have doubled because Jerry and Cap Boy have zero insight and decreasing leverage with Pickens.

In my opinion he wants to work on his image for other teams, incase no new deal could be reached with Dallas by next offseason.

If he were to not sign and hold out, it would be a reaffirmation Pickens is me first on and off the field.
There's no benefit, outside of injury risk for him to hold out or in.
Show up, get another year of #1 numbers and I think there will be enough teams out there willing to look past his Steelers days.
Yeah but what’s his number now? Could he not get a 30 million per year for 4 years deal?

Sounds fair to me right I mean under the tag he's still number 6 People don't look at the details they just look at the numbers sometimes and without facts the facts are he's making very good money this year and having him for two years I never expected him to stay here unless something crazy happened I knew that if he played this well when we got him from Pittsburgh the best thing we could do is utilize them for as long as we can then trade him and flip a 3rd round pick into a 1st round pick at minimum that is winning that is a good GM'cause look at who's next on that list brandon Aiyuk second time I've had to Mention him in this thread because this is what happens He got angry he held out they caved they paid him and then he completely went postal after getting hurt and not giving them anything for their money this happens a lot so you're in a catch 22 sometimes with these deals,

Jerry's already mentioned him and he's right He has paid guys early and what did he get back from it mostly nothing.. Also paid guys on time He's gotten some good deals and he's gotten taken a few times by waiting but I think sometimes he wants to make sure when he gives those kind of deals out and you have to overpay a little bit like to Prescott but he wanted to make sure that they were continuing to be motivated and they're gonna play well..

It's kind of hit and miss should you sign a guy early and then you end up with the 49ers in that position with Brandon and we've done it here with Bland and digs those contracts went great but guess what it didn't work out jerry's not happy about that...

He is happy about Prescott I don't see any reason not to I know he's a little overpaid but they both took risks and they both got rewarded prescott's had two great post payment seasons He got paid he proved that paying him was the right thing..

Everybody always gets mad at Jerry for not doing this but really if you look around a league it's hit and miss it's a catch 22 should you pay them early or should you make them prove it but this thing with George I knew this was gonna happen anybody who thought that Jerry should sign him and somehow fit him under this cap with Lamb our delusional fans that play too much Madden and too much fantasy football....

Do I know this because even a team like Kansas City traded Tyreke Hill in his prime Literally play two better seasons When he went to Miami he was definitely in his prime and they said you know what we're not even paying one guy at least Jerry paid Lamb But now people are upset 'cause he won't pay George?

Even Philadelphia just let go of Brown How is that any different? Think they can fall back on Smith we'll see but at least we know Lamb is the real deal..

Downside of the franchise tag is that no new extension could be made till the end of the season. Even if both sides landed on an agreeable number now.

I think at this point as well, as long as he comes close to repeating last year, if he wanted 30mil this offseason, next year it's automatically going to go up purely due to the cap increases. So, it may work out for him signing for 28mil now and then say 33-35mil AAV next year if Dallas doesn't retag him.

How about seeing what happens this year. And address the situation next years off season.
Easy to say should have signed him. But things do not always work that way, for what the fans want or think.
A lot goes on that fans and the media have no clue about. Just speculation and rumors.

You are right. It's only been 30 years of futility. No need to doubt the process as Jerry's got this.

If Pickens has a better year than, say, Drake London (again). Will he think he should be paid like Drake London? Which is more than CeeDee Lamb.
