One of the announcers made that point that really TIki has only had 3 great seasons- his last three under Coughlin. Before that the talent was there but he did not use it well- not to mention he fumbled all over the place.

Tiki has run for 1000 yards six of the last seven years and has about 10,500 for his career. He's an excellent running. Might be an a$#%#%& as a person and a NY Giant, but he's a very talented RB.

Well one of the announcers is an idiot...

Total yardage stats...

2000- 1,725
2001- 1,442
2002- 1,984
2003- 1,677
2004- 2,095
2005- 2,390
2006- 2,127

Clearly he's been better the last three years with Couglin...but the prior four years weren't exactly swiss cheese. 2002 is a great season. 2000 and 2003 are very, very good seasons

Again, I disagree. Tiki's average per carry in 2000 4.7 yards, 2001 5.2 YPC, 2002 4.6 YPC, 2003 4.4 YPC (hurt this year), 2004 4.7 YPC, 2005 5.2 YPC, 2006 5.1 YPC.

Recieving yards:
2000 - 719
2001 - 577
2002 - 597
2003 - 461 (hurt)
2004 - 578
2005 - 530
2006 - 465

The numbers from 2000 to 2006 are very similar and IMO do NOT reflect that he had only 3 "great" years under Coughlin.

Much as I can't STAND Tiki Barber because I find him to be a gold plated phony...his performance last night, just as he's done in other big games, was outstanding.

The Giants are NOT playing well. They've had a ton of injuries to critical spots, DE, LT, WR...Manning was awful again, as usual.

But last night, it was clear, Barber forced his will on that game. He ran with determination. He's done this kind of thing in big games, for years.

I look at our group of players and don't see anyone who, even somewhat consistently, steps up in a big spot and makes an impact. I understand that Barber is the elite of the elite. But it would be nice, on occasion, to see someone step up.

I'm not sure if it's that we don't have that player OR if we play such a conservative system on both sides of the ball that it restricts the type of player who could be an impact guy IF we just let him loose.

Your thoughts?

What's amazing about that smug little running runt is that he became elite only about 3 years ago according to the analyst accounts. Of course he always had good vision. Then he started lifting weights and conditioned even more to be more durable and fumble less. To his credit he brought it up another level and stayed there. Contrast that with our own Julius Jones who we have to excessivley spell throughout the season to keep him on the field, hopefully productive.

Yeah...that's the most annoying part, I can't stand the guy.

But...he's topped 1600 total yards (rushing/receiving) six times in a ten year career.

Emmitt, an all time great, did it five times in a 15 year career.
