Who are they?

O:
1. CJohnson
2. APeterson
3. MLynch
4. Joe Thomas

D:
1. GAdams
2. LLandry
3. AOkoye
Is that simply your guess as to the players he was referring to?

This is Jerruh freaking Jones we're talking about here. Don't try to crawl into his head and define what a word means to him. There's a significant chance that, deep down, he still thinks Troy Hambrick is an "impact" player.

seems the concensus among all is there are 7-8-9 really good players in the draft, then a level off

Jones isnt talking out of his arse on this one

Maybe he meant IMMEDIATE impact? Someone that can come in, play a lot of downs and contribute right away? Someone like.....oh.....Anthony Spencer? :D

Jerry described it as someone who scores or someone who gets to the QB .....

Jerrah wants one. OK. WHO are they? Obviously Johnson and Peterson are two of them. Is Landry one? Okobye? Ginn? Adams? Offensively I really only see 3- Peterson, Ginn, Johnson. Defense means pass rush; Adams, maybe Carriker. Thing is- I do not see hardly ANY of these guys going low enough for us to get one of them without giving up too much.

what you have to understand is that Jerry probably is thinking a player that can be had between 15 to 20 is an impact player! its not who you think trust me...he is a dipwad at this...he doesnt know how to evaluate talent...all this BS about him not falling in love with a player is crap...I guarantee you there are two to three players that could be had between 15 and 20 that he is salivating at the mouth for as we speak...he cant wait for them to drop to 10 because he is going to pull the trigger!...its not peterson or johnson either...trust me...how do I know? It's his MO..It's what he did with Dixon and Carter!!!!!!.it's what he has done in the past pre Parcells and post Jimmy...why do you think he has changed?

Ok. I'll trust you. Jerry doesn't rely on the scouts that he pays. He doesn't rely on the grades they give players. He doesn't rely on Jeff Ireland or the other national scouts.

He simply falls in love with a player and goes after him.

We trust you. You certainly sound like an intelligent, informed fan with inside information. Yes, we all trust you.

what you dont understand is in Jerry's eyes there are 15 players that are as good as Johnson and Peterson...its a player that everyone has rated 15 to 20...that's who Jones is talking about and when that guy falls to 10 he is going to pull the trigger and move up...he will trade away two 2nd round picks...then Mel Kiper will say "I truthfully thought that the guy they picked could have been had between 15 and 20, I dont understand this pick. He may even have fallen to the Cowboys at 22." That's what is going to happen...its already happen with Dixon and Carter...he got suckered into that and into the Galloway trade...Jerry loves to negotiate but the problem is this isn't oil and he doesnt know what he is doing. Sure he wants to know but he just doesnt have the knowledge. He will screw this up you watch.

What history do you have to go that suggests otherwise? Parcells had the final say the past 4 years...JJT said it was in his contract...we all knew that...Jimmah had it when he was here...Jerry said that...All I have to go on is between Jimmy and BP...what did he do then? Just look there homer...look there...Dixon, Carter, Galloway....fleeced into stupid stupid deals....Just trade way your draft for Peterson Jerry...come on do it! Just do it! And when the guy gets a career ending injury in preseason dont blame me!

Lets say we move up.

Peterson, Adams, or Landry would make us a much better team next year. If we draft at any other position than RB or Pass Rusher they would be battling for playing time, even Calvin Johnson wouldn't hop right in and catch 80 balls for 1200 yards. Peterson seems like the only player that could really IMPACT our team, possibly Adams and that pick looks sexier for Phillips who relaly likes defense in the 1st. Landry would still be fighting with Watkins and Hamlin. So you can narrow it down to RB and pass rusher.

Lynch is probably better than Thompson but would add a different flavor with JJ and Barber. But that's a fairly good leap to make.

I'd like Leonard in the second if you're going after a RB for this year and you can't move up for Lynch. But I don't want one

I do not think Lynch is on the list. I have to agree that Pass rusher and WR and RB are probably the positions he is thinking about. I think Peterson is the only guy that could drop far enough for us to get him without pulling a Ditka.
Ginn is the other guy- and he will be easier to get. None of the pass rushers are spectacular enough to be worth the price.
SO to me its either Peterson or Ginn.

I think Carriker is the most likely guy to drop into the 20's....he's not the speed pass rusher most 4-3 teams want to spend their first round draft pick on, imo.

I agree with your assessment except in one area. I think Landry starts in Dallas if not on day one but prior to the bye week. Hamlin gets the edge in camp because he is a vet and has a few mini-camps to learn the defense. Once Landry learns the system he starts.
