Implosion

What a sad day. My first Cowboys game at Texas Stadium was my mother's and I last event together before she died. It was when we beat the Giants back in '03 when we score on like 5 field goals to win the game and go to the playoffs. My sister and I gave her the tickets as a Christmas gift. She was a bigger Cowboys fan than I was.

I will miss Texas Stadium almost as much as I miss my mom. :(

This was a lot more sad for me than I anticipated. I was so excited the first time I walked in that stadium I actually teared up when the Cowboys came out for warmups b/c I couldn't believe I was finally in the building I loved so much from afar. I only got to six games there, (the price of living outside of Texas for far too long) but I'm fond of all of them. Even the crummy playoff loss in the 2007 season.

In all the Cowboys memories, I totally forgot about HS football.

Converse Judson won its first State Championship in TX Stadium in 1983 vs Midland Lee. The star of the team was Chris Pryor, who was a flat out beast of a RB, but academics ruined his college chances.

In 1988, at Texas Stadium, Judson lost to Dallas Carter 31-17, but was later awarded the State Championship due to a forfeit....cause DC allegedly used ineligible players. This is the game that Peter Berg omitted from Friday Night Lights. I don't mind him adding the drama and such to the story, but he could have at least a factual playoff run. Odessa Permian didn't play DC in the State Championship at the Astrodome. In fact, I am not sure either team would have played in the Astrodome, as that was for Region 3 and 4, OP and DC are regions 1 and 2.

In 1995, Judson beat Odessa Permian for the State Championship at TX Stadium.

So yes, I have my memories of the Cowboys at TX Stadium, but I also have my memories of my Judson Rockets.
