Wow this is huge news that is three fold.

*DQ most likely gone now.
*Johnson staying in Detroit which makes them a contender still.
*And Johnson not going to Washington with the #2 overall pick to develop.

Dumb move IMO to not take the Washington job!

Why take a job that you don't want?

Wow. That could have some real residual effects, think commanders really liked him- but now does that help Macdonald, make vrabel an option for teams? Elevate Quinn on the list?

It may be the twist that actually makes us lose dq

Quinn's been wanting a head coaching job since he's been here, after that last game, who in the right mind wants him...

MacDonald and who?

Slowik, Glenn, Vrabel, Quinn?

Seattle is probably the only option for DQ, but that’s only if a couple more turn them down

What happened was Dan Campbell told Johnson to "go for it" and he realized it wasn't a good idea

Commanders officials were en route to Detroit for a meeting with Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn when they got word that Johnson was staying with the Lions, per sources. While the abrupt pivot by Johnson was considered “surprising” by several league sources, he was not considered a lock for the Commanders’ job, despite his strong reputation as a coordinator and a loyal coach. The Commanders leadership team remains eager to meet with the respected Glenn, who is one of several candidates the team is expected to consider for its head-coach vacancy.
