Important metric = sign new CB & S

I think the most predictive and important metric is real quarterback differential. According to BTB article on it below, we should not be resigning Church, Mo, Carr, Wilcox, but can and should upgrade. I could not agree more and have been clamoring for this for years. Even to the most untrained football eye, our DBs simply are not close enough to opposing WRs and make too few plays on the ball (compared to other teams, even those with comparable pass rushes). So... PLEASE STEPHEN & WILL do not resign Church, Mo, Carr, Wilcox. Replace Mo/Carr with AJ Bouye, Trumaine Johnson, or Stephon Gilmore AND a high draft pick. Replace Church/Wilcox with Tony Jefferson, John Cyprien, or Micah Hyde AND play Heath more. Then, draft DE in first round or two. And hope that D Law and T Craw are healthy. And Irving and Collins make jumps.

I cannot stand another year of Mo, Carr, Church, and Wilcox. Please spare me, Stephen & Will.

I think the first move is to go after a good CB like Trumaine Johnson and then go after Claiborne if they don't get a guy like that. I think Carr wants to return and it will be a cat and mouse game to see if he comes back for something like 3 or 4 Million.

And we draft a CB in the first three rounds no matter what.

What makes you think Bouye, Johnson, Gilmore, Jefferson, Cyprien or Hyde want to be Cowboys?

It would be down right dump to resign Mo, he can't make it through a season. Romo is safer bet then Mo. let him walk.

Carr should be gone as well but he'll probably be back.

Not for every player. Who is to say they even hit true FA? Not to mention we don't do that any more.

If we did make competitive offer, why wouldn't one of them (if available) want to play for us????

And yes "we don't do that any more", but the point of the metric and article is that we should, rather than waste the same money resigning carr, mo, church, wilcox.

If they can get Carr back for 5 mil a year it's a no brainer. Wouldn't mind MO back for like 3 mil a year for a backup. Plus sign a fa cb and draft one.

Resign Carr, draft one, and trade Romo for Eric berry since Berry doesn't want to play under the franchise tag anyway,

We could have cloned Deion and Woody from their prime multiple times each and sent them out as our secondary and Rodgers still would have picked them apart....D Line wins football games, not secondary players. Good QB's in this league rarely turn the ball over without being pressured. If you want the secondary to look better and create turnovers then spend $ on the d line. Not that hard of a concept.

And playing off coverage starts with the coach, not the player.

We complained about our secondary, but are now content on resigning those very same players? Maybe one of the group for stability's sake (we already have Jones @ FS, so maybe Wilcox), and they're not an overly talented bunch (yes DL plays a role, but come on) so don't see the need for the complacent re-signings in the secondary unless we can get Mo on the cheap/1yr deal. We have starters in Brown and Scandrick, though they're both more #2s and have a starting S as is; time to move on and take a shot at improving this D on all phases.

Imo the secondary is probably the hardest group to figure out for any team...

I think the Cowboys just want to be smart(er) in Free agency.

We went after Eric Weddle. He just chose the Ravens. Not sure if our offer was lower or he just preferred the Ravens.
He had a solid track record of being a good safety.

So, while I don't think we'll be going after the Suhs, Normans etc I don't see them shying away from good players unless they want elite money. You want to pay someone what they are worth, not pay them Revis money to be Brandon Carr(just an example).
