Sure if he plays on a Freeney deal.....even for DEN he didn't produce as a 10m player

Mo is the big signing on the D unless we get Berry.... Carr can come back for cheap depth, same with Wilcox but Mo is only starter coming back

FS needs to be upgraded thru draft or FA

Ware seems to play better early in the season. Maybe instead of a one year deal we can get a half year deal lol, or limit the heck out of his PT and keep him fresh for the post season.

There is absolutely no way we get rid of Church, Mo, Wilcox, and Carr, and end up better on D in 2017. That is creating way too many holes. We have to keep at least 2 of those guys for depth if not anything else.

The secondary played damn well in 2016. They are not what's wrong with our defense.

Call me crazy but I'd

Resign MO
Let carr go
Sign TNew let him finish a cowboy
Resign Moore

Try for Eric Berry

Draft 1 or 2 secondary prospects in the first 4 rounds depends on Berry

Mo, TNew, Oscan, Abrown, Moore, draft pick

Berry, Jones, Heath, depth signing or draft pick

So adding TNew means we would not have a spot for a cb in the draft. Highly doubt we keep 5 cb's on the active roster. No thanxs.

ABrown
MO
Scandrick
TNew

We should go for an elite Offense and good Defense

Sign Mo, Wilcox and DWare to value deals and draft a CB

But drafting OJ Howard and a burner at WR is the better way to go

The BTB article shows the New York Giants received incredible production from their free agent signings and the internal development of Landon Collins in 2016.

The G-Men went from nine DL participating in 20% or more of the snaps in 2015 to six this season and almost doubled their Approximate Value according to Football Outsiders (from 29 to 54).

That was due to free agent signings Damon Harrison and Olivier Vernon (33 AV).

The piece shows Dallas had eight DL this season with 20% or higher snap cunts and an AV of 38, which is much better than the '15 Giants but nowhere close to NY's production now. All four of the Giants' starters out-valued the Cowboys' best DL.

Harrison (18), Vernon (15), Pierre-Paul (8) and Hankins(8) vs Maliek Collins (7), Tyrone Crawford (7), Terrell McClain (7) and Jack Crawford (6).

The Giants relied very heavily of their top four, getting only 7 AV points from their four reserve DL.

Dallas got more production out of their back-ups (12 AV).

The Boys got hurt by planning on having Randy Gregory (suspension) and DeMarcus Lawrence (suspension, injury) and getting little from the duo.

Gregory is suspended until further notice, Lawrence is recovering from a second back surgery while McClain (29 July), Crawford (29 Sept) and Ryan Davis (28 Feb) are soon to be unrestricted free agents.

The team needs to sign a true RDE in free agency to platoon with Benson Mayowa and have an eye out for any potential bargain DL signings before turning to the draft for long term help.

I agree with the many posters that you can't let 4 of your DB's walk and expect to replace them like there's a store shelf full of them. And it's undoubtedly true that if you improve your pass rush your DB's are all of a sudden going to look a whole lot better. But I'd only re-sign Mo if he came cheap. And I mean real, real cheap. Here's why.
Year - Snap % - Games played.

2016 - 38.4% - 7
2015 - 62.7% - 11
2014 - 14.5% - 4
2013 - 44.4% - 10
2012 - 85.3% - 15

That is the picture of unreliability. How many years can you wait for this investment to pay off? Do you see any trend for improvement? Mo can have all the potential in the world but if he can't stay on the field it's time to move on.

I'm perfectly fine with keeping six CBs on the 53 man roster, so long as the players are deserving.

The NFL is a passing league.

Accordingly, I want to go long with the DL and DBs.

Ideally, I'd keep 10 DL, 6 LBs, and 10 DBs.

We had 6 DBs and only 2 LBs participate in over 50% of the snaps this season.

The DL rotates more, 3 players had more than 50% of the snaps, 2 had over 40% and 2 were over 30%.

I would be all over Howard if he fell to 28.

I just don't see it happening.

I really liked what the Giants did on defense. All three free agents fit in nicely and contributed.

We could have cloned Deion and Woody from their prime multiple times each and sent them out as our secondary and Rodgers still would have picked them apart....D Line wins football games, not secondary players. Good QB's in this league rarely turn the ball over without being pressured. If you want the secondary to look better and create turnovers then spend $ on the d line. Not that hard of a concept.

And playing off coverage starts with the coach, not the player.

Ummmm no! If we cloned Deion and Woodson, I'd be an hour and a half away right now from streaking the city nude after a Dallas win tonight.

I love how Heath should be a starter now, meanwhile halfway into the season people were baffled he was resigned for so much and had no use for him
