In the upcoming meaningless game, who sits? Who plays?

Who would you like to sit and rest?
:write:
Who would you like to start and get some serious playing time?

*Might be difficult to digest, but I'd like to see that geezer brad get some playing time at QB. C'mon, we need to see what he can do in a sustained role. And resting Romo would be the logical and wise things to do.

*I want to see what Stanback can offer as far as getting involved in the offense. With Owen out for the Skins game, I'd like to see a starting receiver's corp of Hurd and Stanback. Now that would really give ol' Brad a test.

*I'd like Barber to rest and tell JJ to ride the pine, to use a cliche, so we can take a look of who else can run

*Further, I'd like to see Folk try 55-60 yard field goals to push him a bit. He is a talent and I'd like to see him have the chance to attempt some really long FG attemps.

*Sit Spears, play Ratliff and let Tank man the NT position

OK, dat's it.

It's a moot point, the game, so why don't you let your imaginations soar on who should sit and who should get a chance.

Glenn and Romo should play, get a some real game time chemistry going, warm up for the playoffs. And none of the starters should take the game off, give them the first half to keep them from getting rusty. Sit them in the second half to minimize the risk, but don't let them take too much of a break.

Glenn needs to warm up, that's for sure!

Play the starters for the first half (except guys that are already nursing injuries) and go from there.

At RB, anyone except MBIII. OK, MBIII is nearly at 1,000 yards, and maybe you play him for a quarter (or so) to let him see some action, but that's about it, IMO.

At TE, a lot of Fasano and Curtis. That said, it would be great to see Witten break the NFL record for TE receptions, but that means he would have to play the entire game. Not really worth it, IMO. Maybe Witten plays a quarter or the 1st half as well.

At WR, Glenn, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, and Stanback. I'm especially interested in watching Stanback, Glenn, and Austin getting more playing time. (Glenn mostly to get some live action in before the playoffs.)

On the OL, I'd rest Colombo and let McQuisten get some reps. Rest Gurode and let Proctor play. Also, I would mind seeing D Free in the 2nd half.

As for Romo, either rest his thumb or only play him a quarter or so.

On DEFENSE, I'd look at resting Newman, Watkins, and probably Ratliff (knee). I hope we get to see some of Ball's coverage skills! I think Ware and possibly only play until half time as well. Not sure about Henry and his injury. Maybe he also rests or plays limited snaps.

We hopefully get to see a lot of Spencer and Johnson next weekend at LB.

Glenn does not need to play, save him for the playoff. That's been the plan all season.Plus teams won't be able to prepare for him,if they never see him in a game.

I don't like the idea of Folk trying 55-60 yard field goals. If he misses 2-3, it could be a great way to shatter his confidence right before the playoffs.

I agree.

I'd like to see us play our starters the first half and maybe 1 series in the second half.

Honestly if we can build a 2 score lead then our 2nd unit may be able to hold on.

Plus 3 weeks is a looooooong time not to play football. I dont think we can just show up 3 weeks from now and expect to be smooth from the get go.

Washington will be playing for their lives. We may be chalking up a big L on this one. I'd hate to give one to the Skins.

All things considered, if the Skins beat us, they'll finish with a respectable 9-7 record.

I think 1 half is good, and the emphasis should be playing that 1st half very well.

That said, clearly TO doesn't play, and I'm not sure if Romo will play either, depending on his thumb. There's probably a good chance that Gurode and Watkins sit out, and maybe even Newman and Ratliff.

Hopefully Glenn does get some playing time, though.

I think that you have a point Yeagermeister. I think it is imperative that we find out if our reserves can play. While I don't like dropping a game to the Deadskins, finding out if the reserves can play is important. I think Wade and Brain needs to come up with a good game plan to beat the Deadskins as we already know the Deadskins play us hard regardless of either one of our win-loss record.

Everyone who's healthy starts; those who are nursing injuries sit.

Not even dressing? Romo, TO, Gurode on offense.
Ratliff, Newman, Watkins on defense.

Guys who will start the game but should be on the sideline early in 2nd half?
Glenn, Barber, Witten, Adams, maybe Crayton on "O"
Henry, Ware, Ellis, Hamlin on "D"

Guys we'll see a lot of and know why they seldom see the field?
Johnson, Thompson, N.Jones, Brown, Carpenter

I don't think we'll have any chance of defeating the Commanders at home...they give us fits anyway...they have their playoffs depending on it and will play everyone, game plan seriously, and play with emotion. We'll be sitting key players, taking many starters out early (we struggle early on offense anyway), we won't game plan for them...it will be very vanilla since we could see them in the playoffs later and because we don't want to give our opponents any extra film, we don't have anything to play for.

1. Cooley will have a huge game against some of our backups.
2. I hope Portis doesn't have a huge game against our backups.
3. Commanders win 27-17...it will be that close only if our pups don't fumble or run wrong routes resulting in Johnson int's.

Those who think our backups will destroy the Commanders starters are just being silly, but take heart....it makes no difference whatsoever...only true fans really care about beating the hated Commanders in this final game.

:hammer:

I've actually been concerned about Glenn coming back so late in the season and not having practiced with Romo and having timing down. Worried that it might actually disrupt the offense a bit until they were in sync.

I'd rather see Romo and Glenn play at least a half if not the whole game.

Play starters that are in good physical condition good part of the 1st half.
1) 3 week layoff could bring them in rusty in the playoffs
2) Hate to risk Romo with a rookie or untested Oline-man, or a receiver that
takes a wrong route--Romo throws a pik and even possibly has to make
another attempt at a TD saveing tackle

Throw Tyson Thompson into the mix. I want to see if he can be the replacement for Julius Jones next year - the burner who can light a team up on the screen pass and hit the hole hard.

I think TT may get cut today so that we can keep Zack Crockett on the roster. Crockett plays ST whereas TT just returns kicks. Crockett can take 5-10 runs in the 2nd half.
