I'd like to see us get a quick lead, and then pound the ball.

yeah thats definitely the best scenario...because if the game is in Bledsoe's hands in the 4th qtr we're in trouble

yeah but he WAS drafted because he was expected to start at OLB...nobody knew Ellis would be able to transition to OLB the way he has and definitely no-one knew that Burnett would be ready...had they known those two things in April I doubt they would have drafted Carpenter

David

That's about the size of it.

We probably would have traded down.

or TO will get wide open for an easy one and Bledsoe will underthrow it for a pick or overthrow it badly...as he did vs Jacksonville and Philly

Nah that was last week. This week it's TO's turn to screw up.

Well and I'll say this quietly.... Ellis has looked "OK". He's good when applying pressure. He's been very inconsistent in space where he shows he doesn't have the athleticism of a natural LB.

Yet, Carpenter can't beat him out..AND..was forced into a position change.

Ya know, part of my concern when we drafted him was that whole "He's the son of an ex-Parcells player" thing...I think that weighed in a bit too heavily.

Then again, it's only his rookie season but you'd at least expect him to excel on special teams

I agree. First rounders should be able to make plays from the opposite side of the field. Bust city.

Not to mention he and he alone was covering that return, right?

Cowboys | Week 6 Inactives
Sun, 15 Oct 2006 08:55:19 -0700

The Dallas Cowboys have declared LB Bobby Carpenter, OL Cory Procter, DL J'vonne Parker, WR Jamaica Rector, FB Lousaka Polite, CB Nathan Jones, LB Oliver Hoyte, OT Pat McQuistan inactive for Week 6.

so our 1st round pick isn't playing AGAIN and the common defense of this pick was that no OL we drafted would be starting anyway - right?

and now "super-flo" - the man who's gonna come back and resolidify a line he never solidifed before - is about to be benched for a 7th round pick.

who's also on the inactive list.

no, a 1st round OL pick would have been just silly.

Which OLineman should we have taken at 18?

i heard that Green was changed to RB. is this true?

I thought Green was still just on the practice squad. I've been pretty out of touch with the Cowboys this week. Did I miss something?

Yes, it would have.

but a 7th round pick about to replace flo is????

i'd have to think that if a 7th round pick can crack the starting line up as a ROOKIE (for the 2nd year in a row) then we could certainly use a 1st round talent on the OL about now.

he was brought up this week to see if he learned how to run forward for a change.

When did parcells say he was going to bench Flo?

Since when did we draft McQ to "Replace" Flo?

If he ends up doing so, fine, but that wasn't the intent when they drafted him.

i would have traded down, not taking one at 18. but possibly justice, joseph or the center the jets took. i'm still not sold on gurode.

yea, i know i'm mixing/matching guards and tackles and centers now - but to me our line needs a lot more help than our LB core so take your best available lineman and improve.

recent talk of flo being benched are not uncommon, rack.

i doubt our "intent" when we drafted carp was to leave him at home a lot also. our OL needed so much more help than our LB's but parcells has a super-love for LB's and DE's and if there's a family or italian connection to be made, it's almost guaranteed to be a bp pick.

the bottom line is our OL needs help all over the place, our LB's are more than just fine and we keep going for more there and ignoring the line with moves like kozer and fabini.
