Merriman better than Ware ?

Better at what ? Sacks ?

Over the last 2 years look at the stats like...Sacks, tackles, tackles for loss, pass's defended, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, defensives TD's scored and INT's.

Causual fans look at one stat only to judge a player, which kind of fan are you ?

My ex wife choose the Buffalo Bills as her favorite team in 1990's because she thought Jim Kelly was cute. She didn't look at all of the stats either.

I'm not your ex-broad.

thats impossible...according to the clone's on here Merriman single handedly destroys offenses...he bulldozes multiple blockers...he leaps 6'5 OL to clobber QB's...he can cover all 5 opposing WR's at the same time, and still turn around and rush the QB for a sack

havent you been paying attention?

David

Wait till Brushi joins the Chargers some day. Then there will be two defensive gods on the field.

No it can be to blame alot. But theres no getting around that if you dont have enough players you aint gonna get where you wanna be.

Wade Phillips is dreamy now... and he's done a pretty good job as a DC overall. But I dont suppose they thought he was so dreamy when the Niners hung 55 on him as a DC in the '89/90 SB.

Ya reckon he forgot how to coach that day or you reckon they didnt have good enough players to contend with what they were facing?

The fact that they didnt fire him leads me to believe they understood what the problem was.

Your reference of the 1990 SB is before Free Agency/Salary Cap. Of course the talent level was vastly different.....

this thread doesn't have anything to do with what you're bringing up. Are you still trying to put full blame on the Cowboys players and remove all blame from the coaches?

man, the board is argumentative lately!

Just gruchy from the loss. Notice I say we loss, the seahawks didn't beat us.

Merriman lead the league in sacks while missing 4 games. In anyone's book, that should be impressive. We say sacks are overated, but then we use interceptions to hype Roy this year. If sacks are overrated, interceptions are also. Dumb luck can get you both of them.

Merriman lead the league in sacks while missing 4 games AND USING STEROIDS. In anyone's book, that should be impressive. We say sacks are overated, but then we use interceptions to hype Roy this year. If sacks are overrated, interceptions are also. Dumb luck can get you both of them.

Fixed it for ya.

If there is anyone in the league using roids, it is probably Merriman. But his stats are pretty impressive none the less.

Bottom line on the ware vs Merriman debate

You want someone who can constantly rush the passer, and sack the QB when he comes near him, and not be a factor muhc else, you want merriman

If you want a LB that can cover, stop the RB, as well as put pressure on the QB, then you want Ware

It's all about what you want

The Chargers wanted a pass rusher, so they got Merriman

We wanted a clean, non egotiscal, complete LB, so we got Ware

Still? All? I never did that in the first place. But even if I did it would be no more proposterous than people who suggest that if we just change coaches it's magically take us to the promised land because we have "all" this talent.

My contention is simple. It doesnt matter all that much what scheme you use if you're shy on players. We're still shy on a few players.

No different than when Jimmy got here. Finally get a winning record in '91 by getting more and more players over time, win a playoff game... then get hammered in the 2nd cause once again still not quite having enough players showed itself.

The run of the mill 4-3 was fine. Switching schemes wouldnt have helped. Getting Haley and Kevin Smith helped.

Swapping out a couple players in our front 7 right now would help too. Course that would be true whether BP is around or not. Which is why I dont care whether he's around or not. If I were to truly advocate that he go, that wouldnt be the specific reason why anyway.

1 Sack and 2 tackles. What a factor he was. tsk tsk tsk.

His sack was a TFL if Brady is Vick.

Ware got screwed out of a sack like this.
