What really ticks me off about JJTs article on Dez is that Dez came back from a surgery in five weeks that everyone said would take at least 8-12 weeks to come back from, and instead of writing about Dez's commitment to getting back on the field to help his team, he decided to go the negative route instead.

I really despise journalists.Today, Dez Bryant got into an argument with ESPNDallas reporter Jean-Jacques Taylor in the Cowboys locker room. It was reported via a Tweet from Robert Klemko of TheMMQB. Immediately, of course, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk wrote an entire article based on the limited information in Klemko’s lone Tweet. In usual PFT style, they actively deleted any comment on their article informing them of their half-story.

I agree with this article 1000000%. In any other sector of journalism, reporters (almost always) verify their facts before they post them. I guess sports is different because we're talking about athletes and not politicians or world leaders. I went back and read Taylor's post-Seattle article, and right up front he calls Dez out for underperforming his contract. First fricking line, " The Dallas Cowboys need more from their petulant Pro Bowl receiver...." Honestly, does it matter what comes after that? At any rate, he goes on to say that it was Dez's first game back and kind of couches the article as a "Dallas needs Dez" piece, then spends the rest of the article completely ignoring the fact that this was Dez's first game back as he rubs Dez's nose in Richard Sherman. Should all players ignore the crap? Yep, but a person can only be expected to take so much.

It's actually funny the way sports outlets perpetuate each other. No independent verification. No accountability. And pretty soon it's like one of those rumors that starts out as the flutter of a butterfly's wing in China and ends up a hurricane at your front door. Trey Wingo just opened NFL Live talking about "the debacle in Dallas" and "Dez Bryant clearly losing his mind." And I know he and his cohorts only have that stuff to wail on about if Dez gives it to them. I just wish once in a while they'd look a little bit further than the sound bite for a little context. I, for one, disagree with John Clayton when he calls JJT "a very respectable journalist."

my only qualm with your post is i think today most journalism in all fields lacks verification

Dez needs to shut up and be professional. Media or not, he doesn't serve the team or himself well by acting like TO. But then I see this same behavior here when people cry about how unfair the media is.

I understand being angry about losing. But Dez needs to put his cell phone down, or just not read anything anyone says if he is going to act out like a petulant child in public.

If there is anything about this social media generation I would change, it would be to grow a thicker skin and stop feeling sorry for yourself every time the world doesn't hand you roses. There are universities now being run by whining children who are using the politically correct demeanor of this country to forge a position of control. Dez actually echoed a comment about the media which sounded like it came from one of these groups.

This especially is sour coming from a guy who will receive close to 50 million dollars.

Grow up, Dez.

That was a garbage article, but Bryant got a little over sensitive. Who cares what JJT wrote?

He knows the truth, the sacrifices he made. Right?

Let's be honest, so much of what the media says/does in Dallas has to do with the fact that this is Dallas and JerryJones is the owner.

Bingo. Relevance is all that matters. It comes from his upbringing where showmanship and flash are what substitutes for publicity and even negative publicity is good publicity.

It is bad. But it's what the free market demands. I guess. If it wasn't so often blatantly misleading I would not have a problem with their specific bias towards Dallas. I would understand they just are trying to make money. Which is commendable? No. I guess understandable.

I would argue that peddling lies with an agenda is anything but commendable. Drugs and hookers are big money makers too, that doesn't make being a dealer or pimp taking advantge of baser human desires an acceptable business choice.

I think they should be required to suit up, run a crossing route over the middle, after they have broken a bone in their foot ,and see what the game is really about. That should shut them up regarding " underperforming"

I've stood up for journalists around here quite a bit, but in light of the recent Hardy reports and the gradual degradation of the integrity of sports journalism, I am finding it harder and harder. JJT used to be a pretty good source, if not completely unbiased. He has descended into that same twitter click ***** area as about 75% of the rest of the journalistic world.

The NFLPU needs to make the NFL do away with these mandatory questions sessions. It gives these journalists a sense of entitlement and a false sense of transparency. They need to go back to the days where, if a reporter is fabricating and/or telling stories wrong, the players stopped giving them interviews. That would add accountability back to the equation real fast.

First off, I guess you cannot engage in a conversation without an insult. Second, what has playing football got to do with being an adult? Although I have played a down or two in my time.

Romo gets way worse treatment and always has. Do you ever see him pop off? Lose his temper and go on a public rant?

Nope. But you see people like TO and Dez do so. Why?

Self esteem, perhaps. We know some of Dez' background. That has a hand in his pushing back on this. But that is no excuse.

It's called character. It's called sometimes the best advice is to keep your mouth shut.

As soon as media isnt driven by ratings and clicks, you will see better media. Which means it isnt happening.

Point proven.

Don't get huffy. Your right playing football has nothing to do with anything. See it's easy to say how people should handle being criticized, but it's a little harder to "keep your mouth shut" or "put the phone down" when your the one being criticized.

I'm sure not all of us would act the same waking up reading articals in the news of what a crappy job we are doing.

Maybe What Dez needs to learn is "Don't eat the cheese. Because maybe if these reporters write crap just to get a reaction and try to make a name for themselves.

I wasn't huffy. Nor was your exercise in proving a point accurate since I did nothing of the things Dez did.

My allegiance to this team does not preclude me pointing out when rich kids who have lived in a bubble due strictly to physical talent act up.

Dez is a ticking time bomb. His unfettered behavior will become an embarrassment to this team if and when they no longer win consistently. Jerry financially tied him to the team.

The comment Dez made during the contract negotiation which was a dead give-away in how this guy thinks is when he stated Jerry doesn't know him at all. His ingratitude toward the team that paid him handsomely, and would again pony up huge dollars is the core of his immaturity. A festering childishness when he doesn't get what he thinks he deserves, he lashes out thoughtlessly.

Frankly Jacques-Taylor nailed it when he stated Dez needs to concentrate on delivering on the field and being less vocal about the press.

The problem is not what they write, it is how he reacts.
