Interesting Collins evaluation

No doubt. But he gives up sacks too. The play right before the INT, he gives up a huge sack. He got beat BAD on that play. He was responsible for 2 sacks. As Romo said, Tyron has given up only 3 in his career. Which is hard to believe and I don't, but he did say that.

The timing of his bad plays is mind numbing. I think his PFF grade has benefitted greatly from a lot of bad teams in the NFC East. ......... like many other cowboys. I agree he needs to go. It would be nice to not give the officials such an easy target.

I saw the same thing. I thought Collins had a pretty good game. Of course we do not see every play on TV but when I watched him he held his own.

Running the football is not a 1 man job. It is a team effort. If Collins beats his man and the rest of the line loses, the RB is going nowhere. Collins is not the problem and people should stop acting like he is. The bigger problems on the OL are inside, where Williams gets called for holding, and gets beat a lot, and Biadasz is still learning the position. The was one play where Bosa came up the middle on a stunt and no one was there to take him. It is those kinds of mistakes that make the line look bad.

Agree, that cat was the best I saw pre accident and I was loving it.

Big E was my favorite player through the early 90’s. He was so fierce as a Tackle and patented the head slap. I wore 79 in high school because of him and would’ve worn it in college had the coaches given two craps about freshman and not randomly handed numbers out. :D

It was a dumb dumb move to do so. Ego doesn't win football games. Pollard should have been the featured back instead of the complimentary back. When a RB loses his speed and cutting ability, they become a liability. Zeke needs to get his knee fixed, then drop about 12 lbs while training hard to attempt to recapture some of his lost skills. It's sad. I'm a huge Zeke fan, I desperately want him to do well but it's obvious he has lost 2 steps.
That’s on the coaching staff. If he’s hurt and can’t overcome it, it’s up to the coaches to determine who plays. It’s just another indictment on the staff.

We are so invested in Dak that it literally makes no sense to go cheap at center. Give Dak a truly good/great center and at least the OL will get better.

So true. Looks like he was in there for blocking and to make up for line deficiency rather than take over the running game to open up the pass.

Sort of fits the question of Moore being more pass oriented than run

I agree with you there, man. As you probably know I'm a homer and probably have the biggest pair of pom-poms here, but after the Broncos game it hit me. I left and didn't post again until the Eagles game. I thought this team was built different than all the teams of the past. I was wrong. As someone pointed out here, the two playoff teams they beat this year, Patriots and Eagles, they both got smashed in the WC games. So those wins are not impressive either. I don't know if we beat a good team all year. Both the Panthers and Chargers wins looked good at the time but not no more.

I put up my pom-poms and Cowboys gear until next year. I'll be here rooting for them again and making big predictions even though I shouldn't. Lol :(

Zeke was great early this year, but he got hurt.

I don’t blame Zeke for having the competitive mentality to fight through a devastating injury. That’s exactly the kind of toughness I want in my players.

But I want my coaches to be smarter. Hell just be competent in that personnel decision.

I agree with this. At this point the Cowboys have to do whatever they can to shoe up the OL. The 2022 off-season goal should be to improve the OL whatever it takes. First thing, identify the weakest link. To me that is Connor Williams. Cannot have all those holding penalties next year. He is a free agent so he will move on. But replacing him with a competent LG is a must. Where the Cowboys are drafting, they can find one. It might be the best value position to pick at 24.

The 2nd weakest link is Biadasz. But he just finished his first full year playing C. He appears durable. But he might now have the power to be a starter in the NFL. I would definitely give Farniok a shot to compete for the position next year. From what I saw of him in preseason and against the Eagles backups, he has the attitude, size and power. He just needs to learn the position. Watching Farniok running downfield to block two guys against the Eagles tells me he needs to be given a chance to win the position.

After that, I think Tyron Smith is the next problem. He has not been the same guy for years and I don't care what PFF grades him. He lost a step and is getting bull rushed to the QG. That never happened when Smith was healthy and in his prime. Once he got his hands on the DE, it was over for him. That is not happening anymore. I can't speak to his injuries but it could be the ankle that has hurt him, but every year it is a problem. I don't think they can replace Smith in 2022. Drafting at 24 it will be hard to find a LT.

They have to do this upgrade without hurting the defense somehow.

I think one problem with the OL is that we have gone away from their strength which is run blocking. You cannot ask these guys to pass protect 80% of the snaps. It leads to more injuries , wear, and tear. We can't replace Tyron who had a great year by every measure I can find.

Another theory is to build the defense. Our offense floundered sunday, but they did lead the league in points and yards. Maybe the path forward is to build a dominant defense. We have one of the worst DT rotations in the NFL. The good teams just maul us with the run game. I think DT needs to be in the picture for that 24th pic.

Collins is worth the effort to retain. He is a good offensive tackle and young enough to keep in current plans for a while. I would definitely be working now with he and his agent...

Terrence Steele can play RT. Only 1 better bargain at RT in the league that I know we have a shot at utilizing. Gets our best 5 on.

Especially if Collins can shore up the LG position for the next 2 years. Then we’re just working on Center and starting to draft/develop the future of the oline as it is now aged.
Draft a LG dont mess with a good player at important position [RT]
Having a good back up tackle is highly desirable

Human beings don't come much more unreliable than Collins. Perhaps we should start considering these things when building a team.

Collins on a few plays dominated Bosa. One time Bosa came in put his hands on Collins and Collins knocked his hands down, which caused Bosa to lose his balance and then Collins knocked him to the ground and then fell on top of him. I thought Martin had a fair game. Center and left guard sucked. Both played like they were wearing skates a few times. Tyrone got bull rushed once and got beat by speed a other time to the outside.

He's not going to be a free agent. We have him signed through 2024.

Trades are still possibilities and in the first rounds of drafts, could be relevant.

The team has to decide what their projections here and now are...so, not so fast here.

Collins is one of the best right tackles in the NFL. In run blocking, he is second to only Trent Williams. He is weaker in pass blocking but still good. The notion that we can improve upon him or that he is the problem with the OL is laughably misguided and wrong.
I agree with you..but he CANNOT be trusted. Trusted to stay in shape. Trusted to eliminate off the field issues. And when you pay Dak like we are paying him...you would hope he can influence these types of things...especially with people he needs to earn a living. I thought I read they are good friends....it could be due to the Louisiana connection? If that is the case...we would be better of having Collins fulfil his potential...then moving on from him. Now Connor Williams and the Bidsez? They have to go. Biadez can be the backup. But we need a new LG and C.

Well heck, we could say the same about a lot of guys. Anyone trust Zeke? Gregory? DLAW? Kelvin Joseph? Character, dedication to football, and a work ethic have never been high priority in Dallas in the Jones GM era. We will sign ANYBODY if Jerry thinks they run fast.
