Interesting comment from Mort

If he doesn't, he's going to have to battle it out with Washington next year for the honors, because we all know little snider will give him 100 mil to go to the deadskins.

No doubt, you can put that in the bank. :D

I think he knows that if He hires Norv he better have a "name" DC or many of the fans would be highly upset.

Now I don't know if the fans being upset would bother Jerry too much but still I think he knows they need someone as a "name" DC if possible because Norv and Jason will be concentrating on the Offense.

I also think he believes that although they need someone to teach Tony, he also realizes that we need work on the D side of the ball and if the D would have played good down the stretch we probably would have won more games and advanced further in the playoffs.

Of course that is purely speculation on my part.

What an irony and colossal brain fart this would be on Norv's part if Jones hired Rivera as head coach after Norv Turner recommended him for DC position. In effect Norv Turner brought in competition to cut him out of the job he was so excitedly pursuing.

Turner would be bent over and driven home twice by Ron and Jerry.

just said on ESPN radio that sure...rumor has had Jerry leaning to norv but something seems to have kept him from just pulling the trigger if thats the case.

I've thought the same thing and if Norv was clearly the guy he could have already been hired...and Dallas could have STILL went after Rivera for DC.

also said word was Rivera was confident in his chances to win the head coaching job...coming in today for interview..etc

lol yes that something was the commisioner asking jerry to hold off until after the superbowl, and not taking attention from the game with this hire. lol seems like most of u are hungry for something when said by people on espn, the same people u guys complain about

I read on here that Jerry was quoted as saying he would not announce a coach untill after Wednesday so as to not interfere with recruit signing day at the Collegiate level. Two names came to mind ,Bob and Mike Stoops.Jerry shockin' the world.Don't laugh it could happen, maybe.

If you bring up the Stoopers, I say don't forget about Weis.

He can bring along Romo better than any coach out there.

And this would make the big splash Jerry craves.

He could get the offense running on all "8 cylinders", that will sell tickets.

Then Jerry can bring in the big DC(Rivera?) to straightened out, and defense wins championships.

And dont start with the "Jerry will not pay to buy out his contract from ND" stuff.

At this point the only things that would surprise me would be Jimmy coming back or Parcells coming out of retirement to be the HC for the Cowboys again.

The whole thing makes you think that there is some credence to the rumors that Norv wants to jettison Terrell Owens. Jerry doesn't want a five-year plan and I'm sure he doesn't want to cut the team's best receiver in order to satisfy the sensitivities of a new coach.

So, if the rumor is true, it could be Jerry doing some convincing to give it a shot with T.O.

I think it was more than that. especially with at least two more people still to be interviewed

will you still say that after he goes 12-4 and leads us deep into the playoffs or to a championship?

Oh man, are you in for a letdown....

the only reason he hasn't pulled the trigger is that there are people - fans and former players saying it is not a good decision.

it is what he wants to do and will do though.

My guess is Jones isn't concerned with who the fans think should be the next head coach for the Cowboys. If that was the case, Turner wouldn't have even gotten an interview.
