Sad just sad. I knew this would be a issue going into the season. We have lamb and a bunch of Jags. Still can't believe they gave Gallup that contract after his injury. But u hand out dumb contracts and you hurt the team building. Paying Zeke that money when he still had a year left on his contract. Just dumb deals. Both of those guys look like jags this season. I am willing to give Gallup another look next season due to the injury he suffered before signing the contract. Maybe he will hopefully look like a number 2 guy.

This could also be coming from the QB only looking at 1 receiver most of the time and defenses picking up on it. That would account for many of the INT's too.

Some guy in Cleveland caught 78 passes for 1,160 yards and 9 TDs.
Makes you wonder how different this offense would have been this season if they could have kept him on the roster.

Most INTs by far were when Shultz and Brown were targeted, with Gallup right behind them. 2 when Ceedee was targeted came much earlier in the season. He and Dak seemed to have much better communication later.

Disingenuous.

2019...2nd DVOA offense...30 TDs rec...18 TDs rushing [48 total]...17 takeaways
2021...6th DVOA offense...40 TDs rec...15 TDs rushing [55 total]...34 takeaways
2022...15th DVOA offense...28 TDs rec...24 TDs rushing [52 total]...33 takeaways

Not hard to see that the Kellen Moore offense is not quite as good as it appears in ppg. Significant contributions have come from the defense the last two years.

Conclusion? Distribution is the issue and the offense adapted to score close to it's normal number of touchdowns. It is certainly arguable that the Cowboys would've finished at 55 - 57 had Prescott not missed 5 games...which is right around the 2021 total. Bringing in more weapons at WR just means lower contributions from the running backs and tight ends. There are only so many balls and snaps to go around. When you are more balanced it looks like 2022. When not, more like 2021 and 2019.

A few had been calling for exclusively targeting Lamb, but that indeed seems to have backfired with more interceptions.

Exactly.

Don't try to talk bad about the other WRs when the FO knew what those guys could do, and chose to put them out there. The FO let go of a major asset for peanuts (Waletzko), and chose not to replace Coop's production...talk bad about how they constructed the WR group.

Dallas needs more wide receivers?

Yup.

And more o-linemen. And more cornerbacks. And more safeties. And of course a better quarterback.

But Jerry and his ilk have not a clue as to how to build a championship caliber roster and coaching staff.

Jimmy did, and it showed.

But he left. And what have we had since?

This stat is more damning

Expected Points Added (EPA) is a measure of success which defines the value of each play by the effect it has on the offense's likelihood to score. For every play, EPA is attributed equally to both teams, and the metric is fairly reliable in identifying the best teams in football

1992 Cowboys:
Irvin, 78 catches for 1396 yards and 7 TD

Every other Cowboys wide receiver combined: 67 catches for 921 yards and 7 TD

How was Aikman able to win in the playoffs with that lack of depth at WR??
Exactly, the goal is not to have a pro bowler at every position, is to play effective football. With this QB having two 1k yds WR and double digit TDs is almost impossible. Also we rely a lot in the TE and running game for scoring.

If we had kept AC numbers would be a bit better but not by that much.
