Interesting Cowboys WR stats from this year

Dallas needs more wide receivers?

Yup.

And more o-linemen. And more cornerbacks. And more safeties. And of course a better quarterback.

But Jerry and his ilk have not a clue as to how to build a championship caliber roster and coaching staff.

Jimmy did, and it showed.

But he left. And what have we had since?
We run into the problem every year of having too many positions we need to upgrade and fix. With our poor use of FA, that means we have to hit big on multiple picks.

Using this year as a point of reference, we hit big on our first-round pick (starting LT) and hit rotationally with our second and fourth picks, but failed miserably on our third pick as far as first-year contributions.

We just can't count on making our weak areas into strengths by only using draft picks and cheap free agents. We may get lucky with a late-round pick like we did with Bland, but you are also going to have misses like Joseph and Wright. Or get lucky on a cheap free agent like Kearse, but miss on others like Washington.

All because Jerry got butthurt over Cooper calling out Dak. They knew Gallup wasn't going to produce worth a damn coming off that injury.

Man child owner

Some guy in Cleveland caught 78 passes for 1,160 yards and 9 TDs.
Yeah, and add on top of that, what did we trade for him and what did we get for him! Our front office really sucks!!

Just maybe it's the QB
Just maybe the other receivers are used a decoys to clear space so CDee can run shallow routes and have tons of RAC.
I seem to recall seeing that a lot :banghead:

You know what's going to happen is Jerry is going to throw stupid money at OBJ. Then we'll have another bad contract with an injury prone player on the decline. Jerry will make a splash and we'll be worse off for it.

Wait, Steven, Jerry, and Willy all said we liked our guys. What happened to the third round guy who was supposedly had a Justin Jefferson grade? I honestly can’t remember his name. What happened to the undrafted steal of the century and Daks favorite goto during TC Dennis Houston. Oh and let’s not forget about the “Polanesian version” of DK as some said around here, Simi Fehoko. These guys were supposed to make us forget about Amari being traded for Matt Waletzko.

They need better WRs but it's not as bad as that stat looks.

I'm not going to do the entire league but here are two productive offenses this year to compare.

Buffalo
Diggs 108-1429-11
Other WRs 117-1645-13

Minnesota
Jefferson 128-1809-8
Other WRs 147-1649-13

Nobody would accuse either of those teams of having no WR depth.

The Cowboys need to improve but when you have an alpha WR getting 100 plus catches, you throw to the TE a lot and you want to have a running game there simply aren't enough footballs to go around.

1992 Cowboys:
Irvin, 78 catches for 1396 yards and 7 TD

Every other Cowboys wide receiver combined: 67 catches for 921 yards and 7 TD

How was Aikman able to win in the playoffs with that lack of depth at WR??
An RB named Smith that rushed for 1713 yards and 18 TDs, plus caught 59 passes for 335 yards (1 TD).
