Interesting Dak statistic (turnover-worthy play rate)

No doubt Dak has made some bad throws and bad decisions this year, but what is a turnover worthy play? Does throwing into tight windows increase this ratio?

A couple of things about Dak from what I have seen this year. First, his arm looks weaker. He does not fire the ball into receivers which give DBs a chance to catch up and make a play. The other thing is he looks slower running this year than he did last year when he was already slow. Is he going to be one of those players who ages prematurely? Dak is 31, but he is looking like he is 37.

Dak Prescott leads all quarterbacks in turnover-worthy play rate (min. 100 attempts)

Per PFF, Prescott has committed a turnover-worthy play on 4.9 percent of his dropbacks. His career rate is three percent. Using an attempts threshold of 50 dropbacks Prescott to fourth in the rankings and somehow makes things look worse for him. The only players with more dangerous plays in that sample are Spencer Rattler, Will Levis, and Tyler Huntley.

Well, a lot of the problem is Dak coming out and not being able to put points on the board. We have played from behind a LOT this year. Our entire offense is on Dak and CD. Teams have done a good job taking away CD b/c they don't fear any other offensive player on our roster. This is a horribly constructed team.

Lol. Anything to avoid holding the 60 million dollar man accountable. IRRATIONAL DAK FAN STATUS NOTED!!! Lol

Dak had the things you listed above last year. A 1000 yard rusher in Tony Pollard. Single season franchise record setting WR. A defense that was at the top of the league in QB pressures and turnovers.

What did Dak do with it? The same thing he has done 5 out of the 7 times he has reached the postseason: he has played poorly.

And no— that doesn’t absolve everyone else that also played poorly in those games. But there is a reason QBs get paid disproportionately to every other position in football: they directly affect the outcome of games more.

So if Dak gets the bag, he deserves the accountability that comes with it. And bottom line: he has not played well enough in big moments for this team.
And sometimes he has flat out played poorly at the worst times.

If you don’t want to deal with that— then go ahead and put your head in the sand. There are 9 years of data points to back up what I am saying.

And for the record— I hope he bucks the trend and leads this team to. SB. I hope he plays lights out and dominates starting this Sunday. I just can’t bring myself to put lipstick on the pig and try to explain away his inability to be a difference maker (thus far) in the playoffs for this franchise— despite his being paid to do so.
This. I have usually been a Dak advocate in the past but there is no sane reason to pay the guy $60 mil when the team is in the state it’s currently in.

Just let the dude play out his contract in a prove it year, use the money to get Henry or other key pieces and maybe the season could have been salvaged. But now we’re stuck with an above average QB who is paid like a Tom Brady.

The thing that gets me is given an extension, No less and for so much money ( cap ) is Daks inability to stretch plays like he could pre ankle break . Pocket collapses and it’s a sack of Tom Thumb groceries ( Dak sponsors this grocery chain locally ) all over the carpet .

Given the fact that two rookies and Terrence Steele start on the OLine pocket collapses quite a bit . The play that won the game in Pittsburgh was a beautiful throw to an emerging receiver .

That’s the kind of play stretching QB needed consistently this year.
I expect Guyton & Beebe to develop , Steele needs to go into competition for a starting job .
Asim Richards comes to mind.

He got one vote, and you guys keep bragging on that. It's absurd.
Dak didn't even get 1 number 1 vote last year. He got zero. Josh Allen, who came in like 5th got more number 1 votes than Dak. In the end, not a single voter thought Dak worthy of MVP. They all considered him a close but no cigar. So to brag about it is kind of funny.

That's a nice stat. It's a team game. Sometime it ain't your fault, and sometimes it is and you just got lucky.

He also is unwilling or unable to effectively run the ball. That weapon at least helped keep the D honest and helped us move the chains and convert key red zone opportunities.
We've got a gazillion dollars of dead cap tied up in Dak. They can't afford to run him.

This is one of the huge advantages of getting a QB on the cheap. You can run him and get that added dimension to his game.

This game against SF will all be about pride. Dak better arrive at the opening whistle fully in tact and not just a unmet bragging. Pride in this one...wins.

“We just got to trust our training and trust the brothers that we play with out on the field,” Overshown told DallasCowboys.com. “We’ve got a lot of players down and so do they, but we can’t use that excuse [for not] playing good football. We’ve all been playing this game for a long time and we know our end goal, and that’s to go 1-0 every week.

“That’s the plan this week too.”

Having drawn criticism as of late from Hall of Fame quarterback and Cowboys’ legend Troy Aikman, Lamb accepted the intent behind the statement and isn’t shying away from the accountability component of it all.

“We’ve got to be better overall — that’s all,” the All-Pro wideout said in response to Aikman’s assessment of Dallas’ current crop of receivers and their route running.
