NFL Trade Machine: Dee Milliner To Dallas

Think about this for a second. The Dallas Cowboys knew their problem heading into 2015 was pass defense. So they invested heavily in both their pass rush (Greg Hardy and Randy Gregory) and at cornerback (1st round pick Byron Jones) in hopes they’ve done enough to fix the issue and move towards what many believe is a Super Bowl run. Now their plan has taken a grievous hit with the loss of top corner Orlando Scandrick to a torn ACL.
Now this has put the Cowboys in a bind. Free agency is all but depleted with any cornerbacks capable of starting and being effective, leaving them two choices. Either put the job back in the hands of Morris Claiborne or stay aggressive and perhaps seek an NFL trade to solve their problem.
Knowing Jerry Jones for who he is and also how the Cowboys have played this off-season, it’s clear a trade is not out of the question.
Enter Dee Milliner.
Remember him? Considered the heir apparent to Darrelle Revis when he was drafted in the 1st round in 2013, the young cornerback has endured a string of frustrating injuries that derailed a promising start to his career. Now Revis is back, along with Antonio Cromartie and Buster Skrine, leaving his roster spot in serious doubt with the New York Jets.
For the moment the team seems intent on keeping him around, but they’ve given no indication that won’t change. If Milliner is at least a question mark, that should make him a trade option. There is no mistaking his talent and he’s still only 23-years old.
How does he not represent the same kind of gambles the Cowboys have taken this year anyway?

Can he play the slot better than Patmon? Patmon is gonna get the reps in the slot. Cowboys have confidence in him.

This is the primary reason I don't take anything the media says as gospel any more. We were deep at CB and are unlikely to fill the loss of OScan from outside the organization. I don't know who Erik Lambert is, but it's clear he didn't get this memo and props to Stash for completely owning him.

What's it going to be then, eh?

If he could play the slot well, the Jets would not think about trading him.

He's broken. Like other first round busts who get traded for other busts.

Trading for FS Eric Weddle is the aggressive move towards fielding a SB defense.

This---excites me.

Bad thing is fitting in the veteran to the scheme.

It is not the same as acquiring a pass rusher like we did long ago with Haley.

Weddle broke in under Ron Rivera who uses alot of cover 2, so any scheme difference shouldnt be that big an issue

How about a trade for somebody that is actually healthy? We have plenty of hurt players, we don't need anymore!
